The Military...
We have a number of military members, and there seems to be a lot of questions, debates and discussions regarding the military... I think it warrants it's own thread, where we could discuss such issues as BRAC, Military Draw Down, the Draft, General Military Service, Military Spending, Etceteras...

I think amny of these things do not quite fit into the 'War on Terror' Forum

You can't do both. You can be National Guard or ROTC, not both. That'd be double dipping, like be being in the Navey Reserves and Army Reserves at the same time.

He mislead you. I am a trained recruiter also. I am also a Military Career Counselor. You can not be in the National Guard (which is a reserve component) while in ROTC. You can join the National Guard, and then go ROTC, but at that time you will be discharged from the Guard, and Enlisted in the Army Reserves.

You see there are federal laws against you receiving two sets of military benefits and pay. It's the same reason I can not join the Reserves while Active.

Furthermore, if your Guard Unit was called up, you'd have to deploy with them, and thus you'd fail to satisfy the requirements of the ROTC program... It doesn't all add up. This recruiter is slipping you the fast one..

I went to recruiting school, but turned down the orders to a recruiting command because I had to take care of my elderly mom, and would not have the time to be a good recruiter.

Being a career counselor is a collateral duty, which you attend a 3 week school for.

When you are in the military, especially the Navy, you wear many hats. Ask Onthefence or CP, they'll tell you the same.

What do you mean? People who want to join, or highest goals?
