I am supportive of the medical usage of marijuana; it has even been passed as a legal drug for medical treatment in Montana.

50 millions plus smokers....
pot might as well be legal in America since it is extremely easy to obtain and used frequently by many millions of Americans. Why not regulate and start putting the tax money to great use for the American people?

Medical use only...
I support medical marijuana, but to legalized it for recreational purposes would be a mistake (that's not to say that people in California don't buy cannabis cards just to get stoned). Personally, I don't see a damn thing wrong with smoking pot, I do agree though, that there complete idiots out there who would treat it as many treat alcohol- as a party drug.

"I'M SO STONED!"

Yeah, no one cares, buddy.

---------------------------------------------------------

That isn't why I disagree with the legalization of marijuana though. Think about this- if it were to be legalized, who would be the first companies to put it on the market? TOBACCO COMPANIES. I don't agree with the way they do things currently- I cringe at the thought of what might happen if they became the keepers of the keef.

I hate big business, and to let them distribute marijuana legally would make them the richest men on the planet... Who seriously wants the tobacco companies having that much control.

That scares me.

And it's not like the American government would disallow the tobacco companies to sell marijuana; legalization would result in an economic boom... (And possibly more terror attacks.)

Legalization would result in more drug arrests and more arrests in general(in my opinion).Follow my logic and see if you agree.First,if legalized, pot would cost more than the average toker would be able to afford. The cost of the product aside, the govt.would tax the shit out of it.just look at what the Fed.and atate govt.'s have done with tobacco. The so-called "sin taxes(Alcohol,Tobacco,Gasoline)".I think it was 2 or 3 years ago that New York applied another tax on cigs that amounted to $1.00 per pack. The cost of cigs went to over $7 a pack. That tax caused smugglers to start running smokes from Canada to the US. Lots of arrests. If people are willing to do that for smokes, what would they do for pot?
Second,if someone cannot afford to buy a pack of "tokes"what will they do to get the things?Steal,rob,shoplift,mug,etc..... Anything to make a quick few bucks to get their "relaxation".
And please don't anyone tell me that people don't get addicted to pot.I have seen firsthand the effect it has on certain individuals.Someone I know got arrested for a probation violation (she never completed her anger management course from a previous legal issue that started, interestingly enough over marijuana). She was picked up and spent 30 days in jail. Her 5 year old daughter(she is a single mom)got shuffled between her parents and the baby's father. When she was finally going to be released, she said to me"I will never do anything again that will possibly take me away from Lucy again"Within 1 hour of her being released she was at a friends house getting high and then driving home.So I do think that there is a level of addiction to pot when someone does something that can get her arrested within an hour of being released from a 30 day incarceration that took her away from her 5 year old daughter.
