1% of the population owns 40% of the money in America
Did you know that 1% of the population owns 40% of the money in this country? The average income of this 1%, per day, is as much as the average income, per year, of the other 99%!!!!
I guess I'll say it again: The rich get richer and the poor get poorer!

That's the way it is just about anywhere you go in the world... The United States is no exception to the rule.

America's poor are rich compared to most of the world. America also has more opportunity than any other country in the world. A poor person in America who lives on SSI has a roof over their head, food, a TV, public transportation, clothing, medicine and medical care. Our poor live better than most of the middle class in the rest of the world.

I don't think a beating will work Every low income person I have talked to seems to think they were doing much better before all the tax cuts to the super rich were given. Maybe I'm tripping but I think giving the same tax cuts to everyone would be a good start. The 1% certainly doesn't need them anyway, Do they? Unfortunately the majority of our elected officials are in this 1%!

I don't object to their having it. And I would be perfectly happy being in that 1%

What I object to is the constant tax cuts to them that Bush feels is necessary to keep the country going. Obviously, he's putting us deeper and deeper into debt. The 1% keeps getting the taxes cut. Who do we think is going to paying for all this?

If you were to re-distribute ALL the wealth in America - so that EVERY adult citizen had the exact same amount of money, things would pretty much be the way they are now within 5 years. The same people would be wealthy, and the same people would be poor.

Besides, this is nothing more than yet another case of liberals trying to create class envy.

My family is lower-middle class in income. And I don't care. We have a roof over our heads, clothes to wear, and food to eat. Why should I cry-baby around because somebody has more money then I do?

Life is 10% what happens to you, and 90% choices.

The 1% are paying 90% of the taxes.

Of course, class envy makes people blind to the truth.

Additionally, class envy makes people blind to the fact that many of these supposedly "rich people" are actually small business owners, who's "gross total worth" makes it seem that they are people they are NOT.

Do some homework.

Well, I'm not in that 1%, and I am taxed to the hilt. I don't have to do any homework. I can just look at old tax returns...and the lack of return checks.
