Although I am pleased with Congress passing the Iraq deadline, I know there will continue to be more suicide bombings after the troops leave. If it continues, I don't think Congress will care because the USA will no longer be involved in the war in Iraq. But what Congress do about Afghanistan and the hunt for Bin Laden? Will they continue to support that?

The USA should have focused entirely on fighting terrorism and finding Bin Laden instead of worrying where the WMD was in Iraq.

GWB ain't worried about that. He's got three battles to worry about: Iraq, Al Qaeda, and Congress (perhaps the Senate should be counted as well).

Post War between Sunnis and Shiites
Shiite cops reportedly rampage vs. Sunnis - Yahoo! News

Is this a valid reason why the US should get out of Iraq now? This is not our war, but a civil war between the two factions. Since the Senate voted 51-49 to tell Bush to bring the troops home, I feel that with the two factions killing each, it puts our men and women right in the middle of it.

Come on, Mr. President: Heed the House and Senate's word: Bring our troops home, and don't be defiant.

I realize that the war in Iraq is more about warring factions within their own nation, but now that we have helped to create the mess that their nation is currently in, I feel that it is our responsibility to restore some sort of safety or peace to the nation. We cannot leave those people to destroy one another.

I agree with you, MiraLee.

Short of bringing them to a "bargaining table", what can the US troops do to restore order? There was some talk earlier about the Iraqi PM (somebody help me on this) wanting to bring both warring factions together and talk it out, rather than use bombs to main each other.

I also heard Sen. McCain saying that the US is gaining in the war. I hope he is right about that. But what do the news reports say? Just the car bombings, truck bombings by the warring factions.

I totally agree. The situation in Darfur is out of control. Unfourtunately there is no oil there, so that won't happen.

Unless the different groups do get together and talk out thier differences there is very little hope of peace in Iraq. It is up to the people of Iraq to do this.
As bad as we all may feel, here in the states, I see no actions by us that will improve the situation there. We have had ample time to do this already.
Bush's main concern is protecting U.S. interests in the Iraq oil industry. It once again comes down to what is good for big Corperations, not what is best for our troops.

Good answer, Ty. I found this article interesting:

The Sentinel - Official Student Newspaper of Kennesaw State University - In it to win it

Is that a reason why the US won't go into Darfur, because there is no oil there? I guess if Darfur had oil, then the US would go. After all, where would we be without it?
