My P.C has issues.
Is this the right place to post this?

Hope nobody minds me c&p-ing this from elsewhere.

In the last day or two my P.C has had issues.

Sluggish running, crashing, and today Imageready won't open at all. My comp has started prompting for a password, which I hadn't got set up before.

I've run Spybot, Adaware, and Avast several times and found nothing. i've run a few things I didn't recognise through Processlibrary, but the ones i've checked seem to be fairly important and not a threat.

We decided to try and re-install Imageready, and that was when I found out I can't use my add/remove icon in my control panel at all. All the others work. It's as if something has reset my custom settings to default settings.

I tried searching to find another way into the control panel to perhaps fool whatever it is and get round it, but every way in I've tried fails.

I'm strongly suspecting a virus (despite Avast) and have no idea how to change it.

Any ideas (in easy to understand terms please?) would be welcome.

If you think it's a virus, try checking out an online virus checker. The house call product on the trend micro site is decent enough.

Thanks, running it now.

Someone posted that link 'over there' but the post was lost in the mists of time as I couldn't remember the details.

I will see if this helps.

Scanning and Cleaning Complete
HouseCall did not find any potential threats on your computer. Make sure you run HouseCall once a week to keep your PC clean and malware free.

Nothing, apart from a fleeting message about manually removing some files.

Should I run it again? xxx

Yup.

Updates I don't have, and haven't had for ages. As I'm downloading a mahoosive file I'll have to wait until it's done and restet the lot.

Ta for your help.
