I truely think the party will lose many backers, if every single action available, to stop the war machine, is not taken. The Democrats should grow a set and empeach him and his bedmates, if the final funding bill, with a timeline, is vetoed. They have included 6 months worth of funding which should be a show of support for the actual troops. There should be no legitimate reason to veto this bill. Bush needs to now consider what the American people want. In fact I think this should be the DEmocrat's announced strategy. I hate to say it but I think too many Dems may have thier hand in the cookie jar, for this to happen.
Politics, it seems to me, for years, or all too long, has been concerned with right or left instead of right or wrong. ~Richard Armour

There are many men of principle in both parties in America, but there is no party of principle. ~Alexis de Tocqueville

You know what, all this political pandering is bullshit. Democrats control the House, which means they control the purse strings. If they want to end this war, then just vote not to fund it. Its that simple.

This country committed itself to liberating Iraq, and then to help build it into a democracy, which by the way is something needed in the middle east. People cheered when America withdrew from Vietnam and then quickly went on with their lives. But once America was out of Vietnam, some 1 million people, teachers, doctors, policemen, mayors, and students were slaughtered by the Peace Loving people of North Vietnam. At the same time, in Cambodia, some 3 million people, again teachers, doctors, parents, children, farmers, you name it were slaughtered by Pol Pot. All you saw in America was the anti-war folks patting their backs for ending America's occupation. There are some 4 million people who have no oppoortunity because we left. Those who fail to understand history are doomed to repeat it. I don't know about you, but if we pull out of Iraq, and the same happens, I will be the most vocal of all people, calling today's anti-war supporters, murderers.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles
