Here is an article that shares that paradigm and the response made by one atheist teacher there; Click Here
Please do read it. I think everyone will find it valuable. And I did not know if I ought to copy and paste the entire page.

Instead of living life in a way that is dictated by God in order to obtain eternal paradise, I live this life knowing it is the only one I will ever have. I know that every life of every person, every creature, and every living thing on this planet, is experienced only once.
To me, to take that away from someone else, and in most cases, something else, is an offense against life itself.
When we do that, we are "playing God," choosing who or what gets to live or die, and that is not something I would ever want on my conscience.
On the other hand, there are natural laws, one of them being that we must kill other organisms to survive, however, wasting life is inexcusable.

I am always dumbfounded at the idiocy of the "athiests have no morals" crowd.
Many of the kindest, most selfless, honest and moral people that I have ever known were athiest or agnostic.

An interesting fact is that between the teachings of creationism and evolutionism(Darwinism) we've seen more "Holy" war brought by the "nice and kind religous folk" than wars between evolutionists. |

Level up: 53%, 110 Points needed | | That was an amazing response. I've been careful not to say anything overtly religious or pray in desperation, because that's only an emotional response to me, something obsolete in it's practice, at least in my own life. I can't say the same for others. However, I still feel a need to offer comfort and sympathy for those affected, but compassion and faith are two entirely different concepts. Love for others is human nature, and many atheists acknowledge that. It's not a supreme law of the universe, but it's important enough to guide our lives with.
If anything, this kind of event strengthens my beliefs for the simple reason that if a loving god could comfort survivors, he could have gone one better and stopped the tragedy.
