Level up: 16%, 31 Points needed | | Why is it that the USA doesn't take to "Soccer" What is it the psyche of Americans that prefers those stop start games? I know basketball is very popular in Europe but IMO a "basket" seems to be devalued, simply because it seems so easy to obtain and because there are so many scored by both teams in any one game. With regard to American Football. I appreciate the strategy and tactics involved in the game, but it just doesn't "flow" smoothly enough. Then there's Baseball , I suppose you guys could level all my above criticisms about AF and B onto our Cricket, in relation to Baseball.
However, you get ALL the best elements of your games in Football (soccer) and Rugby (league or union).
Is there a reason contained deep within? or is it just circumstance.
BTW, do you guys actually know why (apart from distinguishing it from American Football) Soccer is actually called "Soccer"? |

As for 'soccer', was that a question for the Americans, or do you want to know from me?

Soccer flows too well and doesn't allow for commercial breaks, except at half-time
Somebody described American Football as a game "designed to fill in the gaps between the ads"!
