If you were lucky enough to be born with a gender identity that matches your body, then I suppose that would be true. However, things aren't so clear cut for all of us. I happen to be one of those people that falls into the third catagory, and I like being in the third catagory. I am not a man, and I am not a woman. I am somewhere inbetween, and/or neither. My appearance reflects it, my personality reflects it, and my actions reflect it. It is the way I am. I exist, and people like me exist. If you want to believe in the binary gender system, then by all means, do so. Speaking from personal experience, you are wrong.

According to medical science, people are born hermaphroditic. The more politically correct term would be intersexed. Until recently, the policy was to chop up the sexual organs of babies who were born intersexed, to assign them a gender, regardless of wether they wanted one, or even if it was the one they wanted. Then, it would be kept secret for years, until when little Mark goes though puberty, he realizes that he really wasn't meant to be a man. This also happened when any baby was born with abnormal genitals. The idea was to prevent a child from being mocked. However, the trade off was the child's dignity and sexual sensitivity.

According to science, gender is more about your brain than your genitals. That's why we have transgendered people in the first place. A good example of this would be a boy who was accidentally castrated when he was born. The doctor decided that everything would be fine if they just gave him female genitals, and told his parents to raise him as a girl. The problem is, that said kid realized that he was a boy, even though he had been raised as a girl. Later, he reclaimed his masculinity surgically, and sued. This case is actually pretty well known, since it discredited the doctor who wrote the protocols which called for assignment of gender to intersexed babies at birth.

The Netherlands is one of the forerunners of gender studies. They have discovered that male to female transgendered people actually have female brains (their brains have the same differences that female brains have), and the same is true for female to male transgendered people. The question is, if people can be born intersexed, why can't people be mentally intersexed? There is a third gender, whether people like it or not.

Although gender dysphoria is classified as a mental disorder by the APA, the proscribed treatment is altering the body by giving the patient sexual reassignment surgery. Logically, this doesn't make very much sense. It shows that gender dysphoria is in fact a physical problem, since the treatment is physical. Mental treatments have been shown to be largely ineffective, much the same way you can't cure someone of being gay.

You are a hypocritical, ignorant person. You say that people who do not conform to conservative notions of sexual orientation are normal, but you say that people who do not conform to conservative notions of gender are sick. You claim that medical science supports your opinion, when it in fact, it does not. Then, you insult people who actually are anrogynous (or the more politicized term, genderqueer) or know androgynous people, and say that we don't know anything about gender. Frankly, because our bodies do not match our minds, gender is not such a given thing. I've actually had to sit down and think about my gender, and my role in society, because the one I was supposedly born with because of my genetalia really doesn't match at all. Most people don't have to do that. Being transgendered can be painful. Imagine you woke up one morning, and had a vagina. It would kind of be like that.

Because there is very obvious physical evidence that we ARE a BINARY sexes species. Either your a male or a female. Period there is no inbetween. Either You have a penis and testicles, or a vagina and ovaries. Just because you have a mental disorder does not mean that changes the very nature of the species just so you can feel good about yourself. What you have is a mental weakness and disorder, which will one day be treatable, it is not a gender disorder.
