This is what i'm talking about...
When she gives 70 percent of her total net worth (not just income) i'll believe she really cares and not just wanting to hear herself speak, or worse for ratings. Elitism at its worst.

Sounds like you expect people like Oprah to wave a magic wand or something....

just giving away a bunch of money is usually not an effective tool at making a positive change in the world. it takes careful planning.

Didn't she buy everyone in the audience a car at one of her shows??I also heard that some people complained about either the tax or insurance costs...I can't really remember though.

I have a novel idea, instead of giving them a car or complain about taxes help them get a job. Help them improve their lives THEMSELVES. Have them take night classes to obtain some kind of degree to get a better job. Make them a better person.

Guy, I’m sure deep down she thinks its all good what she is doing. She is saying to herself as long as she is helping people the ratings and millions of dollars she gets per year is icing. Why did she give cars? So people will go to her show and watch her show more! Hey, oprah is sooo giving, lets watch her show. Ratings go up, another million or so dollars per year, job well done. Practice what you preach. Give 90 percent of your money to the poor. You can live on 10 percent of 40 million/year. Come on, step up to the plate. you first. Not just .004 percent of what you make, but 90. Lets go. you wont see it...

It would prove a point she is willing to step up to the plate. Lead by example. Why not? Because you would lose 90 percent of your money? But you want everyone to pay 50-60 percent of what they make every year, why not you? Out of the 1.5 billion she is worth now, yes it will make a difference actually...
