Harriet Miers withdraws
I think Bush was smart in nominating Harriet Miers to the Supreme Court. I haven't been watching the news lately but I have been listening to talk radio.

Lately, the right wing conservatives were against Bush's nominee because they claimed he should've nominated someone who was more conservative...in my eyes, "someone the democrats would oppose".

Since many democrats like Harry Reid recommended Miers, it looks like that ticked off many right wing conservatives which probably is the reason why Bush gave up his support for Miers. I guess Hoard Dean is calling the President weak for letting the right wing conservatives make his decisions...Maybe he's right??

It does seem to show how weak this administration is right now. How lost it is...

The problem was Bush wanted to lose the right wing perception and nominate someone who seemed more to the middle. He failed to forget the democrats would hate whomever he nominated so he might as well just select a right-winger and satisfy his base, which is what probably will happen now. You got your wish dems

Bush didn't cave to the right, Miers did. She withdrew her nomination, Bush didn't.

If you believe that you are very naive. She was asked to withdraw because of the pressure. It is the polite thing to do for someone so they can leave the situation with a little dignity.
