Pessimism on Capital Hill
Pessimism towards Capital Hill is probably a more appropriate title.
President Bush may not be the most popular guy these days but it looks as thought the cynical outlook on what’s going on around capital hill is spreading. The new Democrat controlled congress has seen its job approval rating drop 5 points from 44 percent last April to 39 percent in the most recent polls. Over the same period of time congressional democrats have experienced an even more drastic drop in approval rating. Last April they were at around 54 percent but have dropped ten points and are now treading water at 44 percent.

What are the main contributing factors to such an overall drop in approval from the American public? And how will this affect the 08 elections?

And you do not think any of this could be a carry over from say 12 years of Republican control of Congress? Which Democrats have a whopping 51 % majority control of?

Well, I'd Say over the course of those 12 years the republicans received a wide array of approval ratings. in 03 there was a "Drop in Approval", but it was only a 5 point drop. Their all time low was something like 23 percent.
Do I think this has any affect on the current perception of the Democratic controlled congress? No. Why? Because if that were true, approval rating would follow a much more consistent pattern with slow increases or decreases in approval. The Pollsters are smarter than that. They're pretty good at trying to assess the publics current views on the current leader.

2008 will surely build conclusions as to what America wants right now for leadership..

It could be possible that America is still looking for a Reagan type President...

Low favorable scores for Congress is because they haven't done what they were sent to Washington to do: dethrone the king.
