Guys, this poll is only about the Congressional handling of the war. Democrats and Republicans are going to be ticked and it shows how the war, and thus our fighting troops, have become a political football.

Overall Congressional approval is higher. Compare polls at PollingReport.com - Public Opinion Online

At this point though, I wouldn't be that surprised if it turned out to be 100% true...

-From Zogby, the same page where the 3% approval rating came from, in fact it's from the same survey: Zogby International

"Just 24% give the president favorable ratings of his performance in handling the war in Iraq..."

Is that more realistic?

You are right, for democrats it is 6% according to the same poll. Oh well it would seem they are that broken.

The latest poll put Bush @ 36%, the previous one had him at a 29% approval rating according to the link Sgtdmski provided.

I think we can all agree that Bush's ratings are still pretty bad.

But, what I find myself wondering about is this. What has Bush done in the last week to get 7% of Americans who had previously said they disapproved of him to now approve?

Considering that nothing has really changed in a week, that seems like a big swing.

Sorta makes me think that the real margin of error is a lot higher than would be indicated by the "on paper" margin of error for the polling methodology used.

True. You have most Democrats and the majority of Independents who disapprove of George W. Even some Republicans and conservatives are starting to distance themselves from him.

-Looks at other polls- Yea weird, most of them usually show a 1-3% change in his approval rating. I don't know what he did to get a 7% increase. But it's not really going to help him anyway, he's hasn't seen 40% since Dec. 2006.

Sorta makes me think that the real margin of error is a lot higher than would be indicated by the "on paper" margin of error for the polling methodology used.
Here's an interesting chart on how polls taken around the same week/day can widely differ from each other:

Obama is a Socialist, racist Muslim who will tax us to death and McCain is a senile warmonger who will start WW3- Failtards.

But the simple fact remains, the President was at 36 and Congress was at 24. Even given the 29% rating, it would still have been higher than that of the 24 of Congress.

but if you take an analysis of the most recent polls, the public favors the democrats. So to say that the congressional numbers is a reflection of the publics feeling towards the democrats is unfounded.

Like I say, it's that no one is getting their way on Iraq. That's why their numbers are low.
