| Iraq Invasion vs. Hurricane Katrina Relief Iraq Invasion vs. Hurricane Katrina Bush and his corrupt Republican cronies masterminded the destruction of Iraq including the electrical supply system, communication systems, water supply system and blew up roads and bridges in the quest for domination of Iraq’s oil reserves. Now the America’s soldiers are dying and taxpayers are paying a Billion Dollars a Week to clean up this latest Bush mess. Contrast this commitment with Hurricane Katrina relief. Americans left to starve and rot in the streets. The time has come to get our priorities in order. Or, should we take these two examples of our government in “action” as reminders of what our government’s priorities really are? | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Well, it is pretty clear that he hired the guy Brown to be the head of FEMA as a purely patronage job. Patronage is a recognized thing in politics and nobody can really deny its usage but it really backfired on Bush because FEMA did not handle Katrina well. Obviously it is hard for anyone to say that they should be prepared for the destruction of an entire city. Then again there is evidence that funding that was going towards improving the levees in New Orleans was redirected some years prior to Katrina for defense purposes, aka towards the war. I know that the amount and strength of hurricanes in recent years is an area of serious scientific concern and is probably attributle to things out of our power, even if we created the circumstances by treating our environment like crap. What's more important, I think, is that several experts were saying prior to the hurricane making landfall that a category 4 or 5 could cause the levees to fail. | Didn't the Governor do something absolutely stupid during or after Katrina hit?? I can't remember what it was, but it was all over the news at the time. | |

You keep posting links from worthless sources. --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence. | ||||||||||||||||||||||
