Does it?
The oil we recieve from the Alaskan oil reserves is only supposed to fuel all the cars in DC and Philly for one day. Hardly significant if you ask me.

I'm surprised they're making such a huge fuss about drilling in Alaska instead of encouraging the American people to carpool, use public transportation or save fuel by avoiding total dependancy on their personal vehicle.

But a I guess the Administration would rather do their buddies in the oil industry a favor and boost our economic power rather than give people information about how to conserve.

This is another thing that pisses me off about Americans, we seem to forget the past very quickly and we only think ahead about two or three years. Gives a whole new meaning to "living for today".

But if people could only live for today in regards to the future, we might not have a crisis on our hands.

Here's an excersize: Ride your bike to work on Mondays and Wednesdays, carpool on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Since most people do their grocery shopping on weekends anyways, it all works out! This can be configured to fit any anverage Joe's schedule (unless you drive 10 miles to work everyday).

Hell, I'm 17 and I ride my bike 3 miles to school every day--AND I'm vegetarian (vegan on Wednesdays and Fridays)! If I can do this, any American can.
Many people travel far to work and need a car especially when it gets very cold outside. We need to dig in Alaska and get the oil to help our economy think of the people before the wildlife, especially since there is very little out there.

***The oil we recieve from the Alaskan oil reserves is only supposed to fuel all the cars in DC and Philly for one day. Hardly significant if you ask me.***

This statement right here is far from the truth, this was made up by a bunch of enviromentalist wakkos to try to save the little wildlife that is left in Alaska do not be fooled by these false comments that cannot be backed up by any facts, we must dig in Alaska.
Many people also live within biking-distance to work, I'm suggesting that if they do, it's pointless to drive their car there every day.

As for thinking of people before animals? My answer is simply--fuck that. We seem to think that since we're intelligent we hold more intrinsic value than the other species of this planet.

I'd rather see ecological balance than skyscrapers and SUVs. This goes back to what I said about Americans easily forgetting about the past and only looking two or three years into the future. I'm not saying technology will mark the end of the world, but as an intelligent species, it's our duty to know when we've taken it too far and I think we're at that point.

With oil from the refuge, the agency's models indicate the United States would import oil to meet 65 percent of its needs in 2025 vs. 68 percent without it.

We MUST NOT dig in Alaska. You are being brainwashed by a dangerous regime.

We must dig in Alaska. These reserves have been reserved for us to dig there for over 15 years. While we are less dependent on foreign oil and gas prices are lower, we can work a way to get more hybrid vehicles on the road.

Clearly GM and Ford sales have been hit hard from these high gas prices. I'm sure they are considering fuel economy cars to bring their sales back up.

3% difference is meaningless. We won't be less dependent on foreign oil and by the time we get to Alaska the energy crisis will already be upon us.

I don't care if it has been reserved for 100 years: It is not necessary and it won't help in the grand scheme of things. It is like putting a band-aid on a gushing, open wound. It wont do much...

you are brainwashed by a dangerous regime.... but then again you must be worried about your penis enlarger... I mean muscle car.
Drill in Alaska or I'll never get laid again!

ok, so you would be happy if Bush walked up to Ford, GM, etc. and told them to stop making cars that are under lets say 35mpg??

I think that everybody has a hobby that makes them feel the American dream. My hobby is webdesign & networking, and making cars go faster.

I will continue to feed my muscle car because when I am in that car either at the race track or just cruising around, I feel the American dream.

I am not going to let the "left" take that away from me.

GM and Ford have seen the lowest in sales because of the cost of gasoline. Clearly they are going to try and shoot for the fuel economy vehicles to bring sales back up. The "energy crisis" can be fixed if we drill in Alaska now while they are producing fuel efficient vehicles.

Makes all the sense in the world.

That is why we should drill in alaska and start looking for different energy.... We shouldn't let the oil companies buy the other ways up, we are going to have to find a different source sometime, until then drill in alaska to keep my gas prices down, or you know what?? since all of you liberals say we are in IRAQ for oil and won't shut ur freakin mouth we might as well take the oil which reminds me, in a little while Iraq is going to be getting back on it's feet and will need to start paying us back, which all they have is oil so I guess that is what they would use to repay us and wow i can't wait for that

By the year 2025 we will only be 3% less dependent on foreign oil because of Alaska. It is meaningless.
