Republicans block bill to restore Habeus Corpus
Yesterday, republicans blocked a bill that would restore Habeus Corpus. How very American! What does this mean? Well, if your picked up as a possible enemy combatant or are suspected of having terrorist ties, you get no lawyer, you may be held indefinately and they don't have to tell any of your family where you are, why you're being detained, or if you'll be charged.

Yes, but where's the harm? After all, after 5 years some of the Guantanamo prisoners WERE released when no charges could be found. see? no harm done. Only five years of their life and a lot of torture under their skin.(sarcasm.)
As the song says, it was a love T.K.O.

Why don't you provide a link??? For if you did may people would be able to see that the bill is in reference to non-Americans. You say how very American, the thing that bothers me the most in this issue is the fact that there are some out there who want to protect the very rights of the people who are trying to destroy us. Only a fool gives a man who hates him a weapon, an idiot gives him the bullets as well.

People wish to give non-citizens the rights of citizens, how noble, however, how dangerous. Like it or not there are people in this world who wish to see this country destroyed. Most of them are college educated and from middle class families who are frustrated with their own governments and choose to lash out against what they consider the great Satan, the United States. Why???? For the very reason liberals always claim the upper ground, progress. Except these individuals are against progress. They want a return to the 4th Century, where religions dominates the nation, women are property, and the man is the center of the universe.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

That is a foolish idea of why we aren't liked in the world, anymore. It is our involvement with the Saudi royal family that caused Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda's hatred of us. And of course, our support for Israel, even when Israel is blatantly wrong. They don't hate us for our freedom, they hate us for our arrogance and our invovlement with tyrannical regimes. And you do know that Habeas Corpus is also suspended for American citizens if they are suspected of ties to terrorists or terrorism.

Whatever else has happened, the US quietly removed its forces from Saudi just before attacking Iraq.

It never got much press coverage but it was one of Al Qaeda's grievances - infidel troops in the land that is custodian of the two Holy Mosques.

Really a foolish idea. You just confirmed what I stated in my post, they are frustrated with their own government, and their association with the US. The rest is truth, all one had to do is look at Afghanistan before the Taliban was removed. Women were property, they could not attend school, they had to cover their faces, and never look a man in the eyes.

The bill the Republicans blocked had nothing to do with American citizens, again provide a link to show somewhere or someone other than yourself who will support this idea. Every article I have searched has stated time and time again that it was for non-citizens.

Link 1

Link 2

Link 3

Do I need to provide even more links???? How about you first provide at least one that shows that this bill has anything to do with US citizens. Either you can't or won't which leads to me to believe that your original post was a lie.

The problem is that it can be used against citizens if they are labled in a certain manner.

Quit stating your unabashed opinion and provide a link. Is it that hard to find one, for if it is, then obviously your opinion has no support. In other words it is wrong.
