Not to be rude, Katc; but everyone deserves a chance to relax his or her mind away from the ills of the world. Why do people take up hobbies such as stamp or coin collecting, gardening, painting, fishing, and countless others? To give our minds a break. that's why.Where is there a problem with that? I really think that if a person has nothing to relax their mind with, they will just snap trying to deal with the ills of the world? Many people work (slave away would be a better phrase) their whole lives; but have or had no hobbies to relax with. When that work stops-which it will eventually- what happens? The person now dies; physically, or mentally. Why? Because they did not have such a relaxation outlet. Any competent doctor will explain the benefits of such mental and physical outlets.
It doesn't mean we are ignorant of the world around us. It just means that something we enjoy (instead of hate) and something we can disagree upon in a friendly manner has occured; and we take the time to acknowledge it.

I agree that we all need a break from it all. I'd be the first to say that.

But talking about Britney isn't exactly a break. Especially when it occupies the news more often than more important events.

For many, a little
schadenfreude is the most relaxing break of all. And let's face it, Brittany is certainly miserable.
Right now America spends $700 billion every year on foreign oil. That's our money going overseas when it could be staying here. We have to stop this.

You are correct there. That can be contributed to the American (and British) desire to be famous; and the want to see people like this fall. I agree that way too much time is spent talking about such people. They are just victims of their own stupidity; but the general public pays to know of such stupidity. Why, I don't know. Yes, I would much rather talk about sports than topics along Britney's line; and I am not ashamed to say it.

Two entities will profit for sure. Battery makers (to make sure nothing happens to our remote controls during gametime; and divorce lawyers on Monday- a lot of wives may be filing!
Now, what were we talking about? Britney who?
My dream of a World Series: Red Sox vs. Rockies (my family comes from Colorado). It is finally happening. Now, will it snow this coming weekend in Denver. Hoo boy!!!!

I thought you were going to sleep forever there, H80. I was waiting to hear from you on the Sox victory last light. Yes, a Sox and Rocks Series. We may even have the very same sports bonanza on Sunday night (I haven't yet seen the Series schedule) with Sunday night Football and a World Series Game! I better get another pair of shorts. I just had another sportsgasm.

It was almost 9PM when the game ended last night. With all the fires that we are having, I watched the fire coverage following the game until 9:30 PM.

Boy, Papelbohn did a helluva job in getting out of that jam in the 8th inning. And that nice blowout in the 8th inning.

I see that the two games in Denver will start at 6PM, local time. I read the 10-day forecast and they forecast milder weather. But with the Rocky Mountains, one never knows.
