You would be suprised at how many people would put their money into private accounts instead of Social Security. Give the American people the choice and watch privatization help millions of people.

I have no problems with the private accounts so long as it is simply and Option. And Hev, you can opt out...

That is the problem. Greed blinds people from what is really going on. Thankfully the majority of Americans are against this worthless plan.

It doesn't matter. Even if I opt out the plan would affect my life negatively.

The percentage against the plan is greater than those who voted for Bush. It doesn't seem like it is only the left who are against it.

Those people are probably the people without any retirement plan, or any type of portfolio. They just want the Goverment to work for them when they are retired...without paying attention to how much they put into the system.

I want more control of where my money goes, how to manage it, and use it to build up a nice retirement portfolio. Makes all the sense in the world to me. I don't know how I can get any clearer.

Maybe I can make it clearer.

For a society to function we need to take care of all the bases. There are going to be jobs out there that are necessary for society to function smoothly but don't bring home the bacon. These people should be taken care of just the same as someone who earned a lot of money during their lifetime. These people are no more or less important than anyone else. They are no more or less lazy. A plan should be formed that takes care of everyone regardless of their status in life.

The Bush plan does not accomplish this, regardless of how much money is put back into the corporations hands.

Fair enough, I see your point there...

Well first I would say that you only get out of this world what you put into it. But I do see your point, and I do believe that SOME people match the description you gave. What if there were some sort of small amount of additional money contributed by the Government for people below a certain income level?
