Here's a question for you. Why should the government be allowed to bypass the requirements for wire-taps for tapping U.S. citizen phones?

Because we are at war and at times there may be a necessity to prevent an attack. Just because your paranoid, doesn't mean everyone is. You're more afraid of your government than you are of the enemy. Who is the enemy foundit?

War has rules too.
There is no standard by which rules get thrown out in time of war.
That's part of the whole point of the "Geneva Convention".

The point is that the government SHOULD NOT INSPIRE ANY fear in the citizen.

If some miscellaneous woman off the street called you "stupid", and your wife called you "stupid", which would you treat with more reaction?
If a kid at your local school was caught doing pot, and your kid was caught doing pot, which would inspire greater concern?

What the other kid is doing IS NOT AN EXCUSE for your own government behaving badly.

OUR government should be following the rules.

The point is that the government SHOULD NOT INSPIRE ANY fear in the citizen.

Do the Islamic facists follow the rules of war? You must have never heard the saying..."all is fair in love and war". If the civilized world follows the rules of war and the Islamic fascists do not, they are going to win eventually. You don't believe that?

That's false. I thought it was the whole idea that good always defeats bad. And anyways, two wrongs don't make a right. You can't fight fire with fire. Wrong. We will never sink to that level. We will never hide behind women and children or fire from hospitals and hide bombs in schools. We will never hijack airplanes and fly them into buildings full of civilians to murder them for no reason other than hatred. We will never chop people's heads off because we hate their religion. And of course, since we "will never" do that, we can obviously ignore the fact that we violate numerous other constitutional standards and Geneva Convention standards in our efforts.

No one has broken any "standards". This country is at war and you can't comprehend that. You would have us sit back until we are in the same position as israel and then what would you do? Why you'd blame the government for not protecting you and doing their job. That's what you'd do. Fileted and gutted.
