If you want the government to have that kind of power, I believe Saudi Arabia or North Korea might be more to your liking. Fuck my "safety," I have a right to life, liberty, and property.

I'm not talking about a slippery slope. It's all there. If I was worried about my security, I'd buy a gun. Besides, it could happen to you too, or anyone.

Don't you think you are exaggerating just a little? I mean you guys paint a picture of real paranoia of the government sometimes. The government is not out to kill you or slice your head off. The government is trying to find the ones who really want to kill you and slice your head off.

It happens more often then you might think. Just take the case of Sherman Austin for an example of countless others. He was essentially a political prisoner. Its one of the more publically known cases of the unconstitutionality of the PATRIOT Act, and how that act as well as warrentless wiretapping may be used directly against United States citizens. Its also a good example of how our government likes to bypass certain people's rights to due process and writ to habeas corupus under such unconstitutional "anti-terrorist" legislation. It also shows the effects of the unconstitutionality of Clinton's Antiterrorism and Effective Death Penalty Act. Look it up yourself, you wanted a name so there you have it.

Oaky, one name and "countless others". Do you have their names?

It's funny that you invoke the "sky is falling" bit, as that is PRECISELY the excuse the government is giving in all of this.
They claim "the sky is falling" and we have to listen to all these people without a warrant because of it, and people like you buy into it. Not even thinking that the purpose of a "warrant" is often to get the government to show JUST CAUSE for listening in.
If the government cannot show a just cause for WHY they think "the sky is falling" in association with their suspect, the constitution mandates that they not be allowed to invade the person's privacy.

But you're so afraid of the sky falling that you want them to do it anyways.

Go over to Lebanon, Palestine, and Iraq and ask them if they think the sky is falling because the government is trying to keep them scared.

No, I'm really not overexaggerating. You can read the bill if you want. Granted, it doesn't give the government the right to slice your head off, but it does give them the right to imprison you and rob you blind for no reason.

Tell me, why would the government imprison you and rob you for no reason?

What the f%@# kind of response is that?
Are we in danger of becoming Lebanon or Palestine or Iraq?

As usual, your replies make no sense.

Here's a question for you. Why should the government be allowed to bypass the requirements for wire-taps for tapping U.S. citizen phones?
