Over one hundred twenty thousand Katrina evacuees still live in Houston, Texas. A recent study shows ninety-eight percent are African American, three quarters earn less than $15,000 per year, almost half have no health insurance, and less than twenty percent are employed. Many could soon lose assistance from FEMA. Two organizers tell us how the community is responding. Points: 21,485, Level: 92 | Level up: 93%, 865 Points needed | | In addition, the crime rate in Houston has risen MARKEDLY since these criminals showed up.
Bottom line: Why are they still sitting on their lazy butts?
Several years ago, my 18-year old son walked into UPS and got a job unloading trucks. Hard work, but he was making $10 per hour, PLUS BENEFITS. The kid had better health insurance than I did! He had no specialized skills, and nothing to offer other than that he was willing to work.
...and there's the problem. These people don't want to work. |

A minimum wage job is far better than no job at all - for a LOT of reasons.
Look at ANY newspaper in ANY city, and there will be PAGES FILLED WITH "HELP WANTED" CLASSIFIEDS. Employers are desparate for good workers.
Why aren't these un-employed people getting jobs? The jobs ARE available!
I think we know the answer to the question, but we just don't want to admit it. |

The people who were evacuated are the problem. They had no job skills in New Orleans before the flood and now they are Houston's problem to take care of. The liberal welfare state in full bloom. |
