We have to be realistic, it is a conservative president who nominates and a conservative Senate who confirms. We are going to get a conservative Justice. It is just a matter of how conservative...
When the president talks to God
Do they drink near beer and go play golf
While they pick which countries to invade
Which Muslim souls still can be saved?
I guess god just calls a spade a spade
When the president talks to God

We need someone who can be fair and who has a minimal agenda. Conservatives cater too much to big business. We also need someone who will not try to impose the will of their god on the people. You have to remember that the Supreme Court has a far more important role than lower courts, it sets national precidents on which all other national courts will base their decisions. This guy has already expressed a desire to reverse the Rowe Vs. Wade Decision, that alone should bar him from the position in my opinion. Fortunately if enough intelligent people contact their representatives we may be able to prevent another conservative crack pot from taking the seat. There may still be hope for this country.
Why so we can put another liberal lunatic on the court? I think not.

Fair enough, but we need to get one much more moderate than this guy.

That is true, he will get nominated and the Democrats are going to protest this for weeks to come, it's sad.

We can only hope that they can protest long enough for the Administration to give in and niminate a more realistic choice. We can't allow this guy in, he'd just make it take even longer for America to recover from all the damage this administration has done to our country.

Why is this guy so frightening to you? You are acting like this guy is Satan. From what I have gathered from him he seems like a respectful and bright guy. Is it the Rowe vs. Wade decision that bothers you so much?

It's that and the extreme nature of his conservatism. We have worked too hard in this country to get women the rights they have, we can not afford to have this guy set us back 30 years. I am also affraid that he'll be far too influencial of a tool for big business. I mean, halyburton already owns the presidential administration, I don't think we need a corporation with any power in the highest court in the land...

I have to agree with you. I think he should have nominated a replacement for O'Connor with another woman. It just seems like steps backwards. Although, it is not to surprising. I've seen data that shows the percentages of minorities and women that Republican presidents have nominated in the past, all low.
But it don't take much to get me by
So just booze me up and get me high

Why doe she have to be stopped, because he is not a Democrat? Plus, I dont know what is the big deal with not nominating another minority, Bush felt that Roberts was best for the job so he nominated him. Now all we can do is sit and wait.
That's exactly the point. This man has a great record but because he is probably a "conservative", they must take him down.

Why should the media/people know his stance on issues like abortion, capital punishment, etc.??

They're judges, not politicians!

How is he a extreme conservative? Because he tried to overturn Roe vs. Wade. You are just afraid of another conservative, not that this man has done anything to the extreme to make you worry.
