I don't understand why it should be mandatory that Bush nominates a woman?? Bush is indeed a white conservative christian, and he did choose Condoleezza Rice (black woman) as Secretary of State...

um...not sure what else to say. I think I made my point.

why would you a white conservative christian male object to him?

secretary of state is not an appointment for life

What does the secretary of state have to do with the supreme court? Are you aware that supreme court nominations are life-time appointments?

Well I tried to use that as an example that Bush does not favor white christian conservatives over woman when he is choosing or nominating someone for a particular job. I know it's not the best comparison, but just because he picked a white male, doesn't mean he had every intention to nominate a wite male. I bet if he knew a female who was better than Roberts, he would have nominated her. But I can't prove that so this is just my opinion. Also, you can't prove that my opinion is wrong because howcale you going to do it?

maybe he knows Roberts won't be confirmed, maybe he figured who ever he nominated first would not be confirmed so he picked a white christian male, that way he could save the black woman for his second nomination and she will surely be confirmed, yeah maybe that's it and maybe she will give him a rumpswab too

I think it is much more likely that she will be nominated for nothing higher than the rumpswabbing position. Which is the position that this current nominee probably previously had which earned him the nomination he has...

Well obviously the presidential rumpswabber would be like a cabinet appointment and would leave with the president, but I am sure that if you swab rumps well, with all your heart, you could be kept on even after the president leaves office. I imagine that would be a really hard part of leaving the presidency, losing your rumpswabber. I don't know if I could go back to swabbing my own rump.

I'm just saying, it's a step backwards in the overall progression of our democracy. The makeup of the country is not all white males. The Supreme Court shouldn't be either.
