I suppose diversity isn't something you think the flag stands for...
I agree with you. And The flag does stand for diversity. But this is one area where I am most definately an extremeist. I see an attack on my flag as an attack on my country, which I will remind you I am SWORN to defend.
Way to keep things in perspective.
How did I go out of perspective?
The flag stands for as much injustice as it does liberty and freedom. When you defend it you are also defending that injustice. To have such an extreme view about a situation like that is to loose perspective in my opinion.
Nothing can be perfect, no human, animal, rock, tree, car, tire and especially not a country. The flag does not stand for the government or the injustices that YOU think this governments put us through everyday but it stands for the ideals on which the government is founded. hevusa if you hate this country and government sooo much i really dont understand why you dont move to another country... they all have flags in other coutries too. all other countries has issues, plenty of issues that are way more severe than ours.

The flag stands for our country and all in contains. You have to take the good with the bad. I don't hate this country, I hate the ways of our government. This can be seen by the fact that I have remained a US resident despite the fact that I have dual citizenship and could live anywhere in Europe I choose.

I feel it is ignorant of you to ignore the injustice our government and military inflict around the world on a daily basis.

Tad... the flag of any nation represents its country. That isn't a radical concept or a stretch on my part.

That action, of course, is politically expressing yourself.

To me, it's all the same. Saying you would kick someone's ass for burning the American flag is the same kind of selfishness as people who file complaints to the FCC about Howard Stern and Janet Jackson's boobie. It's the same kind of selfishness that the KKK in Mississippi had when they murdered three voting rights activists in the 1960s.
"I don't like that" or "I don't agree with that." That's fine. It also doesn't matter, because everyone is entitled to their opinion and everyone has the right to express themself. It's your passion about this subject that is making you miss the point I think, and no one is blaming you for that. I certainly am not.
no because people dont have to listen to howard stern they can turn the radio off whenever they please. Janet Jackson was an accident those happen. I do not see that as the same, because I consider flag burning a provokative action (if thats even a word). but i dont see any connection in your comparison.

If the amendment passes, I will march down the street burning a flag for all to see.
When the president talks to God
Do they drink near beer and go play golf
While they pick which countries to invade
Which Muslim souls still can be saved?
I guess god just calls a spade a spade
When the president talks to God

Well, I think that would be a bit extreme, but I guess whatever gets your point across.

So the flag stands for slavery, masonry, and genocide? Those are the ideals this country was founded on. Remember actions speak louder than words.
