What the flag stands for is a matter of opinion. You can be as proud as you want to serve under the flag, I have no problem with that.

What I do have a problem with is the nation that has adopted a way of thinking that that even put mother nature in service to this country. You can be a compassionate American and love nature, there are many people like that, no doubt... But I don't think any number of reforms will save the world. It takes much more than that, in fact you could say it takes a revolution.
Save the World? Is it in Danger? When did this happen? So what is the threat a big comet? Is the core cooling? Is a our sun going to go Super Nova?

I started a new thread for the Liberals to whine about the environment.

Hey man, I respect your right to praise and protect the flag, why do you have to make fun of me now?

No, the world isn't going to end in our lifetime, but that doesn't make it any less important to me. Check it out, I know people aren't stupid, but they do tend to be blinded by greed, and the mass media encourages that, and they defend Americans' rights to be greedy, or as popular terminology would label it "prosperous". I think greed is the problem; it's the cause of social instability and that branches out into a WHOLE lot of other things.

It's killing 3000-year old trees, putrifying rivers, lakes, and oceans, clogging the sky with destructive chemicals, killing animals by the millions every day, it's dumbing people down and making them fat and complacent, and in turn they don't care about the trees, or the water, or the skies, or the animals.
\"Are we justified in using articles, no matter how convenient it may be for us to use them, that we know were produced in conditions which bored and even stultified the human beings who had to make them?\"

I am not making fun of you at all. I firmly believe that the world is in no danger. We (humans) are. And I don't bloody well care if we die off. Please see the new thread I started 'Save the world...' in the U.S. Politics forum.

Good point Tad. You are probably right, the world will endure the crap we give it. But it is the human suffering from pollution that I find unacceptable. Cancer rates and so on in America are higher than the rest of the world for a reason!
