| Shit, It's Raining Journalists Robin Toner, and Kate Zernike, writing for the New York Times, wrote about the newly elected Democrats, who, having won the majority of the Congress, will now have to produce, dealing with, among other things, "the loss of manufacturing jobs". I don't know why they will bother with that particular item: they already have. They knew damned well what they were doing over a decade ago when they supported -- and right along with the Republicans -- the free trade agreements, and the fast track legislation, that gave the President the power to implement them. It would be hypocritical of them to now, after the fact, decide that something must be done, when something has already been done. How are they going to uncreate something that they have created? I am reminded of the scene in the movie "Cold Mountain". Ruby, played by Renee Zellweger, disgusted with the war, lamented: "Every piece of this is a man's bullshit. They call this war a cloud over the land, but they made the weather. Then they stand in the rain and say: shit! It's raining!" | |||||||||||||||||||||

| Taxes, tarrifs, union benefits, OSHA regulations and other factors have made it virtually impossible for American companies to turn a profit in America. What do we expect them to do? Operate at a loss? Or go overseas. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| America is changing from a manufacturing nation to a technological nation. Other nations are taking over the manufacturing jobs as America moves into another area. The fact is unemployment is at a historical low and the economy is booming and Americans are for the most part making more money than ever. This is another democrat lie being used to further an agenda. Nothing new here. | |||||||||||||||||||||

| And because journalists wrote it we should believe it!!!! Try again!!!! dmk Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles -Russell Kirk- | |||||||||||||||||||||

| If things are so bad, why is the economy doing so well and unemployment so low? There were a lot of manufacturing jobs in the 1970s and I worked at one. I am doing much better now. I wonder why that is? Someone is lying to me. Could it be the New York Times? Well maybe. They have been known to lie before. I also heard once, "Don't believe everything you read in the newspaper". | |||||||||||||||||||||
