Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

You don't have to kill people to be a facist.

I think the Bush administration fits the definition, at least in part:

A system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, stringent socioeconomic controls, suppression of the opposition through terror and censorship, and typically a policy of belligerent nationalism and racism.

Seems like Bush is a text book facist...

First off, You are right, he is not a dictator, it is Karl Rove, Dick Cheney & Donald Rumsfeld that are serving as co-dictators. George Bush is just a puppet, he's an idiot.

Secondly, it most certainly is NOT impossible, and if thinking like yours spreads to the masses, we will certainly see a dictator come to power. Nothing is impossible. It would be very easy for a President, with the cooperation of the JCS to become a Dictator.

So who's been arrested, Kennedy, Pelosi, Kerry, and Gore are all still walking around free. Fascism eliminates the political opposition, or at least stiffles their ability to dissent. That is far from the case in this country. Sitting there calling President Bush a fascist is assinine. It adds nothing to a debate, and shows the futility and stupidity of the opposition.

The lefts problem is not that President Bush is a fascists, it is rather the lack of an coherent platform in opposition. The country is tired of the rehashed solutions of higher taxes coupled with more government programs, it hasn't worked in the past 40 years, so what makes you think that it will actually work now???? The lefts problem is that it has no new ideas.

Hello, McFly. Guantanamo. They are not even given the right to a trial. In fact they have no rights. Not to mention the african americans who were eliminated from voting very much on purpose.

You fucking amaze me. Time to step off of that soap box.

There's no doubt Bush is up to some dirty business. Remember Florida? Nearly 200,000 votes were not counted because Kathrine Harris stopped the count after complaints from citizens that the ballots were confusing. What about the black voters who were turned away because of their criminal records, which were frauds I might add; crimes committed in 2007? Come on, seriously... Brother Jeb was overseeing the count in Florida, keep that in mind as well.

Think about Bush's anti-Kerry ad campaign, he made Kerry out to be a fraud when he actually SERVED HIS TIME in Vietnam. Who cares that his purple hearts weren't well-deserved, that doesn't change the fact that he answered his call and fought with the rest of the guys. What did Bush do? He joined the Air Reserve; he didn't even qualify! A family with infinite connections is the only thing that saved him from serving his tour.

Don't get me wrong, Kerry's no better than Bush, but don't say the left's problem is that it has no new ideas. Do you think Kerry speaks for all of the intellectual left? The guy's an idiot!
