antithesis - you are confusing most musicians with the Stones. Most musicians don't make that much money. ALSO. There is still the issue - to me the most important one - of the SONGWRITER - who gets NOTHING if the music is not sold. It is RARE - extremely - for a songwriter to get royalties from live performances, unless they are recorded or on tv.

NOt that I'm surprised that he's wrong - he usually is. LOL
But I'm surprised that he's in favor of downloading music for free - I mean, he pretends to be this morally upright fellow and all...and as you said, stealing IS stealing.

Can I get one of those lattes?!

Who, me or Jefferon? I'm starting to see your point with the stealing thing. Hell, I'll admit I switched to iTunes a few months ago and only pirate things I can't find there (*cough* TOOL*cough*), but I still don't think it would be possible to stop file sharing. Technology's at the point where anything can be done over the internet, and once an easy, profitable practice is invented, it spreads like wildfire.

I still think the RIAA are nazis, though. Protecting a copyright is one thing. Exploiting the legal system to leech money from the public is another. They're not even acting on behalf of most of the smaller artists.

If you liked music as much as I do you'd also know recordings are nothing compared to live shows.
Then why are you illegally downloading music?

With that noted, if you don't like the price, don't buy.
There is no option of taking it for free if you don't want to pay. That's called stealing.

And regardless of how you want to paint the picture, the artists and/or record companies and/or whatever DO HAVE the right to sell the music.
People do not have a right to download the music for free.

Claiming that you're just trying to "stick it to the man" or whatever other hippy b.s. you want to paint it as doesn't matter.

Tell me. If YOU were living off of $300 / month by doing concerts, and the music rights from the company brought in an extra $25, would you just blindly give that money up?
Cause I guarantee you that the company is not going to really "miss" that $25.

Well. I'm off to grab a latte. It's next to a Safeway that made MILLIONs last year, so I think I'll steal myself a couple bucks worth of eggs while I'm at it.
It's all good, right?
Yeah, you're probably right. I only have two sons, a nephew, two brothers-in-law, and a father-in-law who are all PROFESSIONAL MUSICIANS.

So you're right, I'd know NOTHING about Professional Musicians. Your forum debates undoubtedly make you the expert.

While you're at Safeway, why not steal some T-Bone Steak for me. Thanks, buddy!

Just because the most they achieve out of any given day involves playing an air guitar, a banjo, or a juice harp...
... that DOES NOT make them a "professional" musician.

He's on your side and you insult him? It's interesting how no matter what, anything in the universe can be connected to Tristan's sexual orientation.
