Level up: 48%, 158 Points needed | | I didn't read the article, but the answer is yes.
Okay, I suppose I should read the article...
EDIT: Okay, I read the article, and the answer is still yes. Though that article sure was boring.

So tell me, when do YOU think the "shift" occurred, and why?
I say it happened in the 50s, and was a direct result of the growing complexity of the Cold War Era world.
Got any better answers, PeeWee?

Got any better answers, PeeWee? | Populism is a long-running concept and has always been, well, popular in the midwest, but it has been losing ground for less traditional conservative concepts. Now, with public dissatisfaction over the past few years, people are willing to go back to Reaganesque fiscal policies. I'm not sure about the social policies, though. Maybe people want to turn back the clock and see a time when church and state remained uncorrupted by each other.

Right or wrong, there's more of a separation now than before.
As for populism... It won't work in America unless and until people quit being so stupid, and start thinking about more then where they'll buy their beer, the latest computer & video games, and when they might get laid.
IF people smarten up, populism will happen without it being labeled as such. If people continue to be dumbed down, no idealogical movement, such as populism, will work anyway. |
