I don't see why you think Reagan was so great. Domestically he's overrated and in foreign policy he's tantamount to complete evil. If everything his administration did in the Americas was made evident in the conscious of everyday Americans, he would be held on the same infamous levels as Hitler and the killers before him.

Hitler, Mao and Stalin sent their own people to go and kill. He definately wasn't as bad as them. His main goal through out his presidency was to eleminate communism from the earth which he basically succeded at and that is the main reason he is considered to be a great president. In 2001 he had a 64% approval rating of his presidancy. No matter how many people died because of him Americans are going to remember what he did for the US and his leadership through the Cold War.

Hitler's goal was to eliminate the Jews from Europe, and his people liked him for that, but when they found out his methods for doing so, they did a complete 180 and saw him for the evil he truly represented.

Reagan was able to suppress Communism and democratically popular leftists in Latin America by completely brutal means; by openly supporting, reinforcing, and in some instances acting on behalf of rightist tyrants, military dictators, terrorists, and mass murderers.

Supplying weapons and training to every one of your enemies-enemies doesn't seem as bad as going and having your military kill anyone who objects to you. There were millions of civilian cassulties but US troops never targeted civillians. He wasn't trying to start a genocide.

What was it he was targeting? WMDs? No, we know now he lied about those. Terrorists? No, we know now there were no terrorists in Iraq prior to Bush illegal invasion.

Bush is going down. He is the modern day traitor of the united states, and he's in charge. All we can do as American citizens is sit here and take the crap he puts forth. As for many of us eating our words...If Bush is one of the best presidents, i'll eat my socks.

Reagan's administration supported and installed rightist dictator after tyrannical dictator, and supported brutal murderous rightist military crushings of popular uprisings like the CIA-backed General Efrain Rios Mont of Guatemala who swept entire villages that allegedly supported popular insurgency, took all of the "able-bodied males" and killed them, in some instances raped the women, and bashed in the heads of the children and infants so that they couldn't 'grow up and resist the government'. And this is just one example. I haven't even mentioned the contras, and the arming of our enemies (Iran).

But he did. Have you ever read up on the atrocities committed by the Contras or how the U.S. support of their country completely destroyed the nation's economy? Mind you, this is a country which was, under leftist control, flourishing. People were happy. Now it's one of the poorest countries in the Western Hemisphere. That was in the name of "protecting freedom." The point when it became such was when the U.S. intervened. Causing that level of destruction doesn't warrant impeachment. It warrants a war crime trial.
