Sorry about the delayed response, my brother let me use his login and now I hear my comments are getting silly responses like "what color pants do you like" and stuff like that. SO.... here's my long overdue response.

When my bro showed me this site "Defending the Truth" and I saw the subject "The Courts [sic] System" I was AMAZED that there was not one mention of the family court system...not one! Rather that try to suggest or impose one particular view, I thought it more prudent and even-handed to introduce the subject with an open-ended question.

Apparently, my idea wasn't as great as I thought it to be, if for no other reason that it didn't foster an insightful, and productive response. My bad.

I think that the family court system has a tremendous, direct and personal impact on many, if not most, Americans. I think that the family court system produces the outcome of separating children from their fathers far more often than necessary. I also think that the family court now creates an incentive for married women to divorce (2/3's to 3/4's of divorces are initiated by women).

Over time, I think this will shift from a man/woman division to a vindictive/non-vindictive division. However, the principles that children should not unnecessarily be separated for a parent and the family court should not provide incentives for divorce will remain valid.

Without trying to sound too stuffy, outside of today's pandoras box topics of "the pledge of allegiance", "gay marriage", and maybe "the war", this is one of the areas that will have the the greatest impact on our future as a nation. My personal opinion is that there is a need for broad reform to insure that family court judges apply the law, and protect children's right to have both parents. That's my spiel.

I agree with hev... I don't know what stance I should take on this issue. I guess that means we could have a profitable debate on the pros/cons of family courts. Except that no one seems to have much information on the actual harm/benefits they cause.

Here's a link with some info:

It didn't really help me though.
