Supreme Court Nominee Harriet Miers
Suprised this wasn't brought up yet...What do you guys think about her nomination?

Although she is not a judge, she has a tremendous background of being a lawyer! During the awards in 96, Bush called her "a pit bull in size 6 shoes".

Don't know a damn thing about her. And probably won't since every person nominated seems to not have to say a whole lot of what they stand for.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

No one knows much about her. But from the little I have read about her, I like her, and I love the fact that much of the political right is pissed at her nomination. That's almost always a good sign.

She has done a whole lot so far in her lifetime! Even some Democrats in the senate (I believe Boxer being one of them), had Harriet Miers name on the top of their list when Bush was trying to find someone to replace Justice O'Connor.

Harriet Miers political views..not sure. She has donated to Al Gore & the Democratic National Committee..

Good article Tadpole. I can't say I would rush to support her though. It seems like the scales have been tipped heavily conservative with the nominations of Roberts and now Miers.

It will be interesting watching how her confirmation process unfolds, seeing how both Republican and Democrat leadership seem to like her.

Yeah but most of the republican in office don't like her as a nominee, Bush has gotten a lot of flak about this from the party as a whole, and that is what makes me feel good about it.

Really? It seemed to me that that was just the media spin. All the quotes that I saw said something like "we want to reserve our judgement until the confirmation hearings."

I've been listening to the conservative talk radio and a lot of conservatives are upset about her nomination. Saying Bush shouldn't let the opinions of the left make his decisions...
