The RICH are paying the most in - multiplied times over!

A good friend of mine is a state revene tax auditor, who also does people's taxes "on the side". A couple years ago, he told me he figured the taxes for a local doctor who paid in over $150,000 that year in income taxes (his total income was a little under $500,000). So... how much did you pay in income taxes, in 2002? I bet it was nowhere near $150,000!

Why should you get a $3,000 tax refund check when you've only paid $1,500 in?

In addition, the "rich" are in a much higher tax bracket than the poor. Period. No matter how you want to deny it, it is still fact.

And how the "rich" are "doing" is absolutely irrelevant! MOST of the rich are rich because they've worked hard and made good decisions.

You've bought into the idea that all the "rich" are wicked, greedy people. And it just isn't so.

The top 10% own 71% of all private wealth.
The top 1% now own more than the bottom 90%.

So what?
Big deal!

Why are you SO jealous of "the wealthy"? Why do you hate them so much, unless you really want to BE one of them?

I have almost as much college education as a Medical Doctor or Veterinarian - but I make a fraction of the income. So what? It was my CHOICE to enter the vocation of my CHOICE, and I do not regret it in the least. Why should I be spiteful toward, and jealous of, those who make more money than me?

Why should I be upset if a person who pays $150,000 per year in Federal Income Tax gets a $5,000 tax reduction?

I don't think people should have to struggle and suffer while others are sitting pretty. I think we are only as strong as our weakest link and that wealth should be spread much more evenly to produce a safe & moral society. A society that understands that we are dependent on every single person, regardless of vocation, and that no one should be disrespected economically while the filthy rich own damn near everything.

Our current society looks a lot like the pyramid scheme that is printed on every dollar bill to me.

Then why the heck was I "struggling" all those years through grad-school, studying until 1:00-2:00 AM EVERY night, plus working 60 hours per week, in addition to being married and having 3 kids?

What was the "poor person" doing, while I was working 60 hours per week and going to grad school? My bet is that he was sitting on his butt, drinking beer and watching TV.

Now... why, in the wide world, should some schmuck who never bothered to finish high school, and has never worked more than 40 hours per week, make as much money as I do?

Why should Joe Blow, who has NO marketable job skills, make as much money as the person who has highly specialized and valuable job skills?

Why should somebody who cannot even write a coherent 1-page paper, make as much money as a highly educated and experienced college professor?

PEOPLE ARE NOT EQUAL in that some work hard while others do not. Some make good decisions while others do not. Some invest for the future while others do not. The problem is that YOU - and people like you - think that EVERYBODY should make the same amount of money, no matter what they do.

And it will NEVER work that way.

I don't think they should make the same wage as you. I think they should make a livable wage however.

And that would require what? That the the top 1% now own more than the bottom 70% instead of 90%.

What is the big fucking deal about that? People who work hard will still have the same opportunities. And they may even be subject to less crime and violence!

Honestly, "a livable wage" will NEVER be earned by MANY people because, no matter how much they earn, they'll always SPEND more.

Let the market pay employees what those employees are worth. Isn't that what free-market capitalism and democracy is worth?

If you so dearly love and want socialism, why not move back to Sweden - keeping in mind that their entire economy is LESS than that of the state of California and is thus, MUCH easier to manipulate.

And with this post you have explained why capitalism is a complete failure. What someone is worth and what a corporation wants to pay them is never going to be the same amount.

I will definitely live in Sweden again when it is time to raise children.

Communism - aka "forced equality" does NOT work.
Socialism - aka "forced communal living" only works in very small countries.
