There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

TeethAndClaws said he "couldn't" move to get a different job now.
Then he clarified and said that he is choosing not to.

I reiterated that it was his CHOICE not to move.

Now... if all these "poor folks" in New Orleans absolutely CANNOT move and get jobs, how come all the Mexicans can come across a (loosely) guarded border, travel thousands of miles, and get jobs?

One word: MOTIVATION.

Well... that, and the fact that the "poor folks" in New Orleans have gotten too comfortable living off welfare.

That's true. I guess we should encourage people to start walking our highways to find jobs! Not getting hit by traffic should be motivation enough.

HOW ARE ALL THE MEXICANS FINDING JOBS?

They're getting to where I live - 1500 miles north of the border - and they're getting jobs where the starting pay is the same as it is for the white folks who will work: $11.50 per hour.

How come Mexicans can do that, but blacks can't?

They are up here!

In fact, the majority of American meat packing plants are making HUGE profits - and are employing largely Hispanic workers. And yes, they ARE paying them good money!

In my small city, the local merchants really LIKE the Mexicans - because of the money they spend locally. They buy nice cars. They're buying, and fixing up, a LOT of homes.

It CAN be done, as evidenced by the fact that it IS BEING DONE.

Perhaps the complaining blacks in New Orleans ought to simply go work at some packing plants for awhile.

People working at a plant are not "day workers". What do you think the averge hourly wage is for an illegal immigrant? Why not make sure they can make that kind of wage in their own homeland??? Wouldn't that be the best way to take care of our immigration problem?

This isn't about "day workers" - except that you're trying to divert attention away from the FACT that there are MANY GOOD JOBS that PAY WELL all over America.

But people have to get off their lazy butts and go to where those jobs are.

Millions of Mexicans are doing it.

Why aren't any blacks able to do it?

So back to the theory that people aren't making a livable wage in America simply because they are lazy.

I think I have had it with conservatives calling people lazy. It is just what you say because you feel all high and mighty.

Hmmmmmmmm, THIS company is paying them $18 per hour AND housing them.

That's over $39,000 per year wages - NOT INCLUDING benefits. Plus, they're paying their housing.

So... I could move there and get MORE money than I currently make.

Tell me again about how nobody can earn a living in America?
