Gas prices and republican views
I just saw, on TV news, that gas prices are at an all time record high in my area ($2.36). It reminds me of a view my Dad held about taxes on gas. He said that if you appied just a 10 cent tax per gallon in America, that we could fond pretty much any and all social programs needed. Mind you this is in the day that gas prices were about a buck a gallon.

The idea has been proposed in bills a few times in the past and Republicans and truck drivers whined that it would throw our economy into shambles; That it could cause the collapse of our economy basically. Here we are after a 138% increase and yeah, our economy might be in the crapper, but it certainly hasn't collapsed.

There is little doubt that the world in general is more liberal than it was 50 years ago and beyond. Conservatives are simply roadblocks on the path to an ever more progressive and liberal world. What a sad existence.

The issue isn't about gas prices. It is about how much money we could have for social programs if we had taxed 10 cents a gallon between the year 1970-2003.

I understand that...
In that case... I don't know how you fix the current gas prices. Maybe not create instability in the region that has most of the oil??

On gas? I don't think so. I'm pretty sure there is no federal tax on gasoline.
But it don't take much to get me by
So just booze me up and get me high
