The progressive taxes of the 90s, mixed with the fiscal responsibility of the congress led to spending surpluses thus resulting in more our national debt trust fund. The congress of today has not only increased spending by over 60% (with little to show for it besides war I might add) and cut taxes for the ultra-rich which made up a huge block of our federal income. This is what we get for electing people based on abortion and gay marriage issues...you get people who are fiscally incompetent.

Since government cannot by itself make money, it relies upon the money of the people. THe budget surplus of the 90's was a result of the increase of economic output of the people. Higher wages, higher productivity and investment in the stock market resulted in the government taking in more money than it needed. In other words, the government was overcharging its people. The government should never, NEVER, have a surplus, nor for that matter a debt.

Debt spending is the result of the acceptance and adherence of our government to the failed Keynsian model. The problem with the current Congress is that despite the tax cuts, they have not followed through with spending cuts. The answer far too often for government is to throw money at the problem rather than try to solve the problem through other resources.

It amazes me that I am far from rich, yet I enjoy the benefits of the tax cuts enacted by this administration. My share might be meager, but I really value the fact that I can enjoy more of the money I earn through hard work.

Everytime time a discussion about tax cuts come up we have to hear the same mantra from the left.....Tax cuts for the rich. Well, we have a progressive tax system, when tax cuts are enacted are they not progressive also??? Perhaps the left doesn't understand this yet, or maybe they are just too damn dumb to ever understand it.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

The dem leaders understand it. Their minions are the ones who are dumb and don't understand it. Just like their minions don't understand the dem leaders cry for raising the minimum wage. Their minions think the dem leaders are looking out for the little guy. Nothing could be further from the truth. Here is the truth....

Dem leaders cry for raising the minimum wage and their rallying cry is to give a higher living wage to those who are living on minimum wage. When you raise the minimum wage, small businesses suffer first. That is the small guy who is trying to be an entrepraneur. So we see the dems aren't really for the small guy. Then prices rise everytime there is a minimum wage hike so the very person they claim they are trying to help is right back where they were. Another big reason the dems cry for a hike in the minimum wage is because of the unions who for the most part back democrat candidates. Most unions have it in their contracts that if the minimum wage rises, then their wages rise accordingly.

Nothing but a con game and the dumb little democrat minions fall for it and parrot it.

There is one thing that nobody has ever mentioned about social programs for the poor and social security et al. (And yes, some social programs can use an overhaul.) .... Many third world countries have plenty of poor with a small group of rich...... These rich have to spend their lives behind locked doors, hire bodyguards, and risk kidnapping....much more than any wealthy person has to worry in the US.... Even their middle classes worry much more than our middle classes..... Check it out in many countries.... There are some good reasons to be nice to the poor and many are selfish ones..... The Romans had bread and circuses and we have social programs.... LOL ....... Comments anyone?

The best idea would be to leave taxes at today's level and keep them there.....at the same time as the politicos must live within the budget..... Yea, actually make income equal outgo..... We ordinary slobs do that every day.....or we wind up in the street.....
