Here is a novel solution, since so many of you liberals like to hark on about us conservatives and Republicans supporting the war in Iraq, how about we pay for that, while liberals and Democrats can continue to fund the War on Poverty.

By the way I love your solution. Just add solve the problems in Iraq also. What are you waiting for? Sell everything you have, send the money to Washington D.C. and then catch a plane for Iraq. Get going brave guy.

It's going to get paid back to China in the money we're making off of Iraqi oil.
So much for lessening our dependence on foreign oil, and so much for the environment, unless someone can come up with an alternative to this.
Just another mess we'll be left cleaning up, after the Bush dynasty.

Blaming the "welfare class" for this isn't a solution, it's a diversion. They weren't the ones who put us at war.

I have to disagree. We, the people of the US, aren't going to make anything, but American based Big oil will, for thirty years no less:

The oil investment law prepared by the experts of the Iraqi Ministry of oil is expected to be discussed by the Parliament during the next few days. This law grants American companies long-term contracts exceed thirty years under the principle of shared production contracts. Experts confirm that this law is an international legal cover for these companies to control oil sector and its management through exploiting the weak negotiating position of the Iraqi government to pass saw this law.

The Federation of Oil Unions in Iraq and in cooperation with the South Oil Company tried to highlight the negative aspects of the legislation of this law during a comprehensive economic and scientific symposium to discuss the oil investment law last Tuesday. Hassan Al-Asadi, Head of the Federation of oil Unions, warned in his opening speech, "the foreign companies, especially the American ones, from accessing to oil fields through any law that does not take into account the interests of the country". He added that the most important objective of invading Iraq is to possess its oil and mineral wealth; pointing out that the legislation of this law is a flout to the law 80 in 1960 and the resolution of nationalization in 1972. Al-Asadi asked the Parliament and the Iraqi government to reconsider issuing such a law.

The constitutional incompatibility with investment law could summed up in that the new Iraqi constitution does not allow the wholly investment of oil, gas and natural resources because they are permanent resources for the Iraqi people and insurance for their future, while the new investment law allows the transcontinental companies to fully control the oil wealth.

According to a document obtained by "Al-Akhbar" from the Office of the Deputy Prime Minister, Barham Salih, in 14 / 11 / 2006 numbered 1034 and addressed to the members of the Oil and Energy Committee in the Parliament points out that the draft law was prepared by the under secretary of the Oil Ministry, Thamir Al-Ghadhban and Ashti Abdullah, but "Al-Akhbar" has got a confirmation that a high-level administrator at Bering Point Company residing in the American embassy in Baghdad for three months has contributed in writing this law.

On the other hand, a number of experts confirmed that in case this law is ratified, Iraq would be the first major producer of oil in the region to put its wealth and economic resources under the mercy of international companies, while Iran, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia are running their oil wealth through national companies. This means that Iraq would incur huge financial losses estimated between 74 to 194 billion dollars due to this law which bashfully refers to privatization in a legal form called (production sharing contracts) which are the favorite contracts to international companies.

The oil investment law, also, calls on the establishment of a body called the Federal Oil Body to run the national oil policy; the Body should include two offices: one for contracts and the other for an oil consultant council, in addition to the establishment of a national oil company that would not be accorded any priority in the investment, but will be treated like any other company and according to the tender it submits.

Although some smaller($70,000 and $60,000) contract have been awarded to China, Veitnam, and India since this was written, the Oil and energy committee has since stated it wants American big oil to take over the large contracts.

Brave guy!!!! I served my time in the army and have seen action in Panama, Iraq, and Haiti.

As far as my solution for Iraq, take the gloves off. Screw the rules of engagement and when in doubt empty the magazine. Hostiles holed up in a building, call in the Willie Pete, and heavy ordinance. Screw shock and awe, just hit them with everything.

You don't eliminate the enemy by bombing them from the Air. You eliminate the enemy by bombing them from the air and following up with search and destroy missions. Key word being destroy. You break the enemies will to fight by making the cost for success far too high, and the cost for failure certain death.
