Don't hold your breath Duncan. If he could have, he should have, & probably would have. When know-it-alls can't refute, they disparage.
In the language of the street, - d'ey got nut'in - .

All you're likely to get from guys like that is unsubstantiated hit & run.

So you say George Will is not idolized by Republicans. Well explain how he remains splattered all over News Papers and T.V. sets and the internet. George Will was part of the Nixon Administration. George Will helped plan the Water Gate Crimes. I know you are young, I am just trying to help you look less foolish.

If your means to that end is to make yourself appear more foolish, then you're succeeding.

More than Tom Friedman I suppose.

But I think of George Will (Doctor Will, I believe) more as a political conservative, than a Republican party loyalist.

I was a William F. Buckley Jr. fan. But he's tapering down his career. Since his professional recession, George Will has to some degree filled that vacuum.
Quote:
"... the magnificently misnamed "neo-conservatives", are the most radical people in this town [Washington DC]" George Will / ABC-TV This Week July 16, 2006
Perhaps an obvious truism. But not a likely declaration from a Republican loyalist.*

Logical. Libertarian. But as the Republicans have gone along w/ raising the min. wage, I'd call George Will's position here "conservative", not "Republican".
Quote:
In a 6:3 ruling in Jan. '06 the U.S. Supreme Court affirmed Oregon's Death With Dignity Law. The (ostensibly) conservative Thomas, Scalia, & Chief Justice Roberts provided the minority votes in the 6:3 ruling.
Commenting on this, George Will said:
"The good news as conservatives see it is they wanted someone who would be like Thomas and Scalia, and they got one. ...
The bad news is that uh the conservative values of federalism, that is, respect the democratic judgment of Oregon to have a different approach. It's the only State in the union with now a physician assisted suicide law; respect that and construe the law narrowly.
What the 6 [ostensibly liberal] justices said was, we read the Controlled Substances Act. Nothing in the text or the legislative history says that the Congress intended to intrude the federal government into what has traditionally been a State prerogative, the control of medicine. And therefore conservative values won out, without the 3 most conservative justices." George Will
Nope. Not a loyal Republican there.
I think of him as conservative.

I admire his intellect.
I admire his communication skills.
And I even find he often agrees with me politically.

I regret there aren't 10 more like him out there.

Hmmm perhaps it has something to do with the fact that people enjoy reading his columns, and seeing is mug on the tube.

Who would have thought that in market society the market would actually work? Not billy of course, for billy it has to be a conspiracy of some sort. Perhaps he can explain why Rush Limbaugh is as popular as he is on talk radio, the AM stations on the dial.

You remember those don't you billy??? Who in their right mind would think that 3 hours of Rush on the Radio would draw listeners???? Nobody!!! Yet he does, day in and day out. But of course Rush's success is just another in a long line of conspiracies. Just like the failure of Air America.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

I claim no supernatural powers. But from what I know about the law, and from what I know about statistics, I believe it's an exceptionally safe bet that you too are a criminal.
So what's so unusual about George Will being a criminal.
I notice you remain heavy on the inflamatory insults, while avoiding any details.
What crime/s do you perceive here billy?
Truancy? Spitting on the sidewalk? Jay-walking? Or perhaps some more nefarious crime; driving 38 MPH in a 35 MPH zone perhaps?

Is there any legally emancipated adult U.S. citizen that is not a criminal?
If so, please name 3.

Thanks.

I wish it were so.
I doubt that it's so.
Shame must be preceded by acknowledgment.
I haven't found any persuasive evidence that Republicans are "ashamed". If you have, please cite 3 examples.

The preponderance of the evidence I'm getting merely indicates they're paniced about the likely electoral consequences of their deplorable political positions.
I believe they remain arrogantly proud of their treacherous, destructive politics. Their concern seems to be focused on the fact that they risk losing the ability to continue to inflict it upon a substantially unwilling, sensible, resentful nation & People.

An oversimplification, evidently the product of an untrained, & lazy mind.

Republican policies, particularly in the 3rd millennium, under the "leadership" of Bush / Cheney, have proven spectacularly detrimental to the human race in general, and the Peoples of the United States of America, and Iraq in particular.
But Republicans, apart from their capacity to serve politically, or vote politically, aren't distinguishably worse than their Democratic brethren.

1) I never have and never would plan a burglary. 2)I see you have never seriously studied U.S. History. 3) It is very well documented that the Republican Party has always been radical and destructive.
