Page 9. What are the Risks of a Rising Debt? History provides a number of examples where large public sector debt led to serious economic consequences. In the aftermath of World War I, four countries experienced episodes of rapid inflation directly attributable to the central bank financing of very large budget deficits through money creation: Germany, Poland, Austria, and Hungary. In each of these cases, more than one-half of the total central government expenditures was deficit financed. As a result, the public lost confidence in the governments’ ability to bring growth in public sector debt under control by either raising taxes or cutting expenditures. http://www.concordcoalition.org/doc/crs-debt-basics.pdf ![]() http://www.optimist123.com/optimist/...ebt/index.html --- help me Instant Runoff Voting, you're my only hope --- "There is no such thing as laziness. Once again, you can't answer the question yourself - with knowledge YOU have. You have to resort to the old "copy & paste." But even there you're wrong. You CANNOT compare post WWI Europe to modern America. One was completely ravaged and destroyed by a major war. One is doing fine. Nice try. Come again...

So, by posting something other than 'your own words', you are showing that you've formed a credible opinion. You don't have to have a degree in every subject to have an opinion on them, just the basic knowledge. If you think about it, you're saying that environmentalists should be making all decisions pertaining to the environment, because they're the only ones who know anything about the environment, and that is not the way it works in America, because not every law that is decided on in this country is made by experts on the issues they are voting on. Things like stem cell research and cloning. Do you really think our government officials are all experts on the study of DNA or cellular development? No, but they are our decision making processes regarding things which they have only heard of, such important issues, and make laws on their use. Hevusa, tyreay and intangible child have that same right to have an opinion on the economy... ...unless you're willing to admit that the elected government is not qualified to be making laws on some of the issues it is voting on and that environmentalists should be in charge of the environmental laws, since that's their specialty. Our Task must be to free ourselves... by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures, the whole of nature, and its beauty. So "environmentalists" are the ones who are supposed to make all environmental laws? Define "environmentalist". Most environmentalists that I read are just idiots with strong opinions.

| Why do you keep asking for an explanation of why the national debt affects the economy? I already explained! | |||||||||||||||||||||

Did anybody else explain anything? My POINT is that the American economy is strong and robust RIGHT NOW. All the panty-waists like Tyeray & Hevusa can do is say, "Yeah, but it's going to collapse! It's all about the deficit!" So I've challenged them to explain the correlation between the national debt and national economy. Neither of them can do it - proving that they're just blowing crap. End of story.

Well, I explained the connection. It's not my opinion, it's a fact of economics. Sure, the economy is robust right now. That's like saying that the chair you're sitting in on the Titanic is dry and warm. It isn't going to stay that way. Well, things probably won't be that dramatic, but they won't be good.
