However, in certain circumstances I feel very strongly that the person who commited the crimes should be given the death penalty as a retribution for the crimes commited. However, I feel that this penalty should be used sparingly and only under the most extreme situations. | Well what about the person putting the commited person to death? Isn't that murder as well? It is morally wrong to do so. | your right Scott Peterson should live, and maybe if he's a good boy in prison we can let him out in a few years, you know because he's sorry and it will cost too much to keep him locked up for life

Level up: 33%, 99 Points needed | | It is not murder, rather a retribution for a heinous crime. Although in some circumstances it may be excessive, it is necessary in other instances as a form of justice or retribution for the crime committed

There are possibilities that innocents are killed each year. This system should not be up if this is happening.

Level up: 33%, 99 Points needed | | so using ur logic if theres a chance that a person is innocent we shouldnt even put that person in jail and we should let him roam the streets cuz their is a chance that the person could be innocent? Explain to me how that is any different than a person who is on death row?

Well yea it is morally wrong to have a person in prison for life if he/she was innocent, but there is a possibility of later in the future proving this person's innocence.

Level up: 33%, 99 Points needed | | It's not like the people on Death Row have a week and than they're executed. Many people on death row are there for 10 plus years exhausting all the possible defenses until finally they run out of apeals.

Level up: 30%, 77 Points needed | | Being in the military I really can't go against capital punishment, since we don't need too much of an excuse to lite someone up, without a trial, without prison. I think prison should be like that shithole in AZ where they have a tent city, chain gangs, and have to wear pink boxers.

(This isn't meant mockingly or anything).
---Now for the good part---
I really don't like the idea of a world with prisons and official penalties (or any government over a population for that matter), but living in the United States at this point in time- I say go for it, blow the sucker out. Hell, I'd just ask for capital punishment if I knew I was guilty; better than rotting in jail forever. It's not my tax money!
But that's just my little superficial philosophy. |
