Although, in response to my own last post, I will admit that one of my favorite quotes is from Roosevelt (Teddy I believe): "You can sleep in peace at night knowing that rough many stand ready to engage in violence on your behalf"

The attack of 9-11 was a long time coming. McCain, although I don't like his positions is not another Bush... Bush is a great president in most positions on war and peace and national security. A continuation of strong reaction towards terrorism is a good thing... a continuation of spending like a drunken sailor is a bad thing and McCain wants to hold down spending...

Obama can do worse than Bush... he appears to be another Carter in the making and Carter was a terrible president that neither party liked.

There will not be eight years of peace nor prosperity if we don't explore for oil and if Iran doesn't say UNCLE on their nuclear program.

Please do start a thread and explain your position to me and others interested rather than make blanket statements. It's debatable so let's debate it.

If we really are still the U.S.A., then we cannot be a nation with one religion being superior over another.
Revisionist judicial/liberal thought patterns...

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press;
The Ten Commandments cannot be displayed on public grounds...No nativity scenes... no prayer in public schools... How do these things establish a religion? Clearly, placing the Ten Commandments doesn't establish a religion, nor does allowing prayer in public schools, or the display of a nativity scene on government property. These are all "new" revolutions of those who believe in the constitution is a living breathing document.

If the above things are considered "establishing religion" then please explain the below quote.
Quote:
Chaplain's Office
Barry C. Black
Throughout the years, the United States Senate has honored the historic separation of Church and State, but not the separation of God and State. The first Senate, meeting in New York City on April 25, 1789, elected the Right Reverend Samuel Provost, the Episcopal Bishop of New York, as its first Chaplain. During the past two hundred and seven years, all sessions of the Senate have been opened with prayer, strongly affirming the Senate's faith in God as Sovereign Lord of our Nation. The role of the Chaplain as spiritual advisor and counselor has expanded over the years from a part-time position to a full-time job as one of the Officers of the Senate. The Office of the Chaplain is nonpartisan, nonpolitical, and nonsectarian.
Guess what, the US Senate and the House of Representatives vote for and elect the Senate and House Chaplain's. How then can one argue that a quiet prayer in a public school is the establishment of religion while the elected leadership of our congress elects a Chaplain of their choice and denomination?

The contradiction of the two comparisons clearly shows that the "wall" today looks much different than the "wall" of the founders, or not?

I'm very familiar with the Chaplain to the Senate. My mother and my step-father were married by the Chaplain of the U.S. Senate in 1980 or 81. His name was Richard Halverson. And he paid for and eulogised my mother at her funeral. He does not make policy for our nation, he is there in the same capacity as any spiritual counselor would be. And there is no problem with him being there, as long as those who are not Christian have a representative that they could speak with as well.

The Perfect Amercian Leader

Everybody knows that America must be governed by a white Christian man. Such a man can not be homosexual. He must be married (to a woman). Preferably he has 3.4 children - that way they can fit into the average economy car. He must attend church on all Sundays that do not interfere with his busy schedule. He must uphold the ideals set forth by our founding fathers (save the silly hair styles). He must not stink. Finally, he must not bow to any Muslim nation and be quick to use bombs and missiles to quench any anti-American sentiment. Having a hot looking daughter is an added bonus.

Did I miss anything?
