People better stay aware of this bill, and what senators vote against it. My hunch is any senator that resists this bill is a senator on the take. |

Randy "Duke" Cunningham, R-California. Both are in prison, convicted of corruption charges that involved lobbyists seeking targeted spending items known as earmarks. ****
Oh boy.
Well, the name Randy "Duke" Cunningham is etched in my head, that he has to be among the most embarrassing congressmen anyone can vote for. Like I said before, he should have policed himself. Instead, he let his head leave him while being congressman.
And I don't think that any of the rest of the local congresspeople voted no on it. Lesson learned, lesson watched.

Level up: 53%, 110 Points needed | | Seems like this one didn't go far enough. There's still gonna be a great deal of favor-currying going on in Congress. Still, this is definitely a big step in the right direction.
What I worry about is if Bush is gonna sign for this. I don't think he has much of a choice at this point, but as the Scooter Libby pardon shows, he doesn't seem to have much to lose from making self-serving, obviously cronyist decisions. Public opinion is already against him.

Head-shakin' news. | Very true, but we know there are some congressmen out there that they think they can get away with something, and still think it is okay. Now there is a senator in Alaska with a problem relating to wines.

That guy is one of the crankiest, most obstructionist members of the Senate I have ever seen.
Not to mention his penchant for pork. Like when he added a 250 million dollar "bridge to nowhere" to a transportation bill, that connects a tiny island with the mainland. When another senator suggested spending that money on Katrina relief, Stevens threated to quit the Senate. The best part is that the island residents don't even want the bridge. Mr. Stevens's Tirade |

But you can imagine the official feather-ruffling that would have gone on.
It would have become a scandal of some sort, I'm sure, and probably led to, oh, a Senate Ethics Bill being created. |
