True. I just couldn't comprehend her attitude that I was not supposed to buy myself anything, just put it all in the bank to leave to the kids.

To follow that line of thinking, my kids would then be obligated to put the money I left them in the bank for their kids. And their kids would be obligated to do the same thing. And on and on and on.

I have a retirement plan. If my sisters should predecease me, then my nephew will get my money. I hope that will be used for his kids' college education. I am single, so there is not much I can do about it.

Had one once. The last one I had, it dissappeared. I guess she was grieving when I had to put my dog to sleep in 2001. They were very close to each other.

I know where you're coming from. Although I too am single, I don't see the purpose of stashing all the money in a bank for my nieces and nephews. Yes they will inherit from me but since I have a will, I say who gets what but I will not deny myself certain little luxuries just to leave an inheritance. For example, I will buy myself a nice car that is within my budget but I can't see buying a Ferrari.

I guess your sister in law also doesn't see that, unless you lose the bracelet or give it to someone during your lifetime, this too will become part of their 'inheritance', should you decide to leave them anything.

I think that she was just pissed because I could spend a couple of hundred bucks and not have to ask my husbands permission.
