Gotta respect a man that can stick by his personal moral compass before such a group of a-holes. I commend him. It's a shame he's retiring.

He'll probably end up getting arrested for having gay sex in a public restroom before too long.

Apparently a group of homosexual activists had to be ejected from the hearing for trying to prevent the exercise of free speech and conducting the People's business in the name of toleration:

Anti-war protesters sitting behind Pace jeered the four-star general's remarks with some shouting, "Bigot!" That led Committee Chairman Sen. Robert Byrd, D- West Virginia., to adjourn the hearing abruptly and seal off the doors.

The hearing resumed about five minutes later in which Pace said he would be supportive of efforts to revisit the Pentagon's policy so long as it didn't violate his belief that sex should be restricted to a married heterosexual couple.

"I would be very willing and able and supportive" to changes to the policy "to continue to allow the homosexual community to contribute to the nation without condoning what I believe to be activity -- whether it to be heterosexual or homosexual -- that in my upbringing is not right," Pace said.

Since those people got arrested for what they believe in, I wonder if it would be fair for us to label those people "wastes" for that?

Sounds similar.

I tell you why it is news, simply because you call it bullshit. The only bullshit spewed came from the crowd jeering and calling names. So much for reasoned debate. Oh Gen Pace does not believe in homosexuality, he is a bigot.

No the bigot is the one who claimed he spewed bullshit.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

sgtdmski - LOL - you are very good at Orwellian double speak. You almost sound like that garysher...or at least the way he used to sound (I don't read him anymore).

I'm also against people who kill people - does that make me a murderer?

LOL

How about blacks who don't like white people being in a superior political position - does this make them racists?

geesus. When somebody calls an entire community of law-abiding citizens 'immoral' - and believes they should be given second class treatment by government agencies, it's BIGOTRY.

Doubtless, there were countless men in the armed services that were expelled upon discovering their sexual orientation. And at a time, not so long ago, that came as a dishonorable discharge. Never even considering the fiber of the men, the character and determination to be true to the calling of the military action on behalf of this nation.

It is a pathetic thing that one's sexual orientation is an issue at all in any venue of life, let alone that of stout-hearted men and women who are willing to sacrifice their lives for the freedoms we have.

Shame on all you homophobes who dress up your fears as some facade of morality!
