When Jews stop demanding that Christians refrain from any demonstrable observance of the most sacred events on our calendar -whilst concurrently and hypocritically shoving their own culture down our throats; I'm sure I'll be more disposed towards exercising some degree of sensitivity to their feelings on this matter.
Nobody has ever suggested that Christians not celebrate their holidays. That's silly. I'm a Christian - nobody has ever kept me from celebrating anything.

Now, the GOVERNMENT sanctioning certain holidays with paid holidays and not others - that's a whole different matter. As is the erection of religious displays and/or religious holiday decorations on public land paid for with tax dollars.

I wish the wackjob right wing lunatic fringe would stop spewing that they have some kind of monopoly on religion and/or spirituality. There are plenty of liberal Christians - and members of other faiths.

Most of those settling were Christians. But it is false to then assume that Christian ideology was the basis of our founding principles. There was more room to suggest founding principles of secularism and deism than Christian ideology.

And, contrary to liberal propaganda and brainwashing, demographic diversity within one state is not a strength but a weakness.
How so? America is one of the most diverse nations in the world, and we also happen to be the most powerful (not that I truly consider the latter to be a virtue). I'll be the first to say that correlation does not necessarily imply causation; but closer investigation will uncover the obvious truth that without the hard exploited labor of ethnic minorities in our history and even today, America couldn't have become the economic powerhouse that it is today.

Now that the world is being transformed to suit the agenda of the Godless, Orwellian multicult; and the United States has devolved into nothing more than an economic collective with dozens of ethnic and other special interests competing against each other for the biggest share of the pie - I would be at a loss to accurately describe American civilisation with any adjective.
I think "Orwellian" was thrown in there quite rashly. What is so Orwellian about admiring diversity? I would say that if anything were to be considered "Orwellian", it would be the admonishing of diversity.

And George Orwell? He would probably be in your classification of "Godless" commies (he fought with the Communists in the Spanish civil war, but later describes himself as socialist).

And I am "Godless"; a-theist, or no-belief in God. Is that necessarily bad for America?

Thomas Jefferson, author of our Declaration of Independence would have to disagree with you:
"It does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods or no God."

Muslims played no significant part in laying the foundations of the United States of America, and if they are offended by John McCain's statement...I really could care less. Christians had nothing to do with building the great Pyramid of Egypt or the great wall of China -but I take no offense at people pointing that out.

Tristan is right on this one. No one is asking anyone to refrain from observing their own religious traditions; just merely that public monies do not go toward such observances.

"...to compel a man to furnish contributions of money for the propagation of opinions which he disbelieves is sinful and tyrannical."
-The Virginia Act for Establishing Religious Freedom, Thomas Jefferson
