Conservatives divided? Good.

"Most-electable candidate may not be most conservative"
-CNN

^Now they know how liberals have been feeling about the Democratic Party candidates for as long as anyone can remember.

Is this a surprise???? Is that not why we have several candidates so that ultimately a single candidate can be choosen who will garner the support of the base????

Liberals are divided!!!!! Last time I checked Hillary only carried a 41% approval rating......HMMMM not even a majority. Where are the headlines. Or how about minorities divided. Women favor Clinton, Blacks Obama.....

Must have been a slow news day.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

Hello--I'm an educated white woman and I favor Obama. However I think Hillary will get the nomination, and when she does I will vote for her. My personal circumstances were far better under the Clintons than they have been under the Bush travesty, so I have no problem supporting her too.

The point is not that conservatives are divided among each other for conservative candidates, the point is that not one candidate really represents the Christian conservative constituency; and in fact, compared with most religious conservatives, a good handful of the Republican candidates could be seen by religious people to be less 'moral' than Hillary Clinton (after all, Hillary is still in a strong relationship despite it's past 'difficulties' [to put it kindly], as opposed to the multiple wives of any one of the Republican candidates?).

I'm not saying that such aspects of a candidate are important to me, just that it is important to religious conservatives.

The left has always been very divided. Probably because we don't suffer from groupthink (well, much of the left anyway).

Um
the last I checked, it was 51% - unless it's changed since the reports on CNN yesterday - AND she had the majority of women and black voters.

where are you getting your information?

It's true. Thinking for oneself is good for a lot of things, but rallying the masses is not one of them.

The left is a collection of unrelated liberal groups who each have their own pet concerns. Get a vegan, a lesbian avenger, a tree-hugger, a stoner, and an NAACP supporter together and just try to get them to agree on the most important issue in 2008.

Actually, you don't have to. This scene happened at our last patio party. Great discussion, but not a lot of agreement past the basic "Bush bad, war bad" level.

It's our lack of unity, our individuality, that is our political Achilles' heel.
Supremely ironic.
