I think Thompson had the right idea, if you want to be a sanctuary city, kiss federal funding good-bye. But Guiliani is correct, the first thing we have to do is secure the border, after that if he continues to enact the broken window theory the next step would be the deporation of illegal immigrants who are caught for minor violations, i.e. speeding and such. The only problem with this may be the resistance of local authorities having to do the work of the federal government. But it would be interesting to see.

I don't understand why local governments say that they don't want to do the work of the federal government. You would think they would realize that illegal aliens are also a drain on their resources as well. If you don't want to "do the work", at least hold them and report them to the Feds. If THEY don't want to deal with it expeditiously, then release them
