Instead of trying to be a crowd pleaser he should just be himself.

"Earlier this month, Obama spoke at an evangelical church in the traditionally conservative city of Greenville, where he demonstrated a casual familiarity with Christian vocabulary, telling the crowd, to much applause, that "I am confident that we can create a kingdom right here on Earth."

Obama's team trying to ride on the fence.

Obama held a conference call Wednesday with Joe Solomonese, president of the Human Rights Campaign, and announced that the Rev. Andy Sidden, an openly gay South Carolina pastor, will appear at the same event as McClurkin on Sunday in Columbia.
Solomonese was not completely assuaged.
"I spoke with Senator Barack Obama today and expressed to him our community's disappointment for his decision to continue to remain associated with Reverend McClurkin, an anti-gay preacher who states the need to 'break the curse of homosexuality,'" he said in a statement.
"There is no gospel in Donnie McClurkin's message for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people and their allies. That's a message that certainly doesn't belong on any presidential candidate's stage."

The State newspaper in Columbia reported Friday that Obama organized a conference call Thursday night with gay and lesbian leaders. After the call, the South Carolina Gay and Lesbian Pride Movement announced it will hold a protest vigil outside Sunday's concert in Columbia.

much ado about nothing

Donnie McClurkin isn't speaking - he's singing a song.

Obama has repeatedly stated that he is in favor of gay rights. There is no need to try to knock him down about this non-issue.

Donnie McClurkin is best known for being a cured homosexual:

Although he lived for several years as a gay man, McClurkin vilifies homosexuality and states that he is now ex-gay. He says that homosexuality is a spiritual issue, from which one can be delivered by the power and grace of God.

In his book, Eternal Victim, Eternal Victor (ISBN 1-56229-162-9), he writes: "The abnormal use of my sexuality continued until I came to realize that I was broken and that homosexuality was not God's intention... for my masculinity."[6]

He then describes himself as going through a process by which he became "a saved and sanctified man".

McClurkin has also stated that homosexuality is a curse

I was thinking exactly the same thing. Obama's record speaks for him.

Rod, do you mean that other gay people also say it is a curse or do you mean others you have met, tell you the same account concerning Donnie McClurkin?

And no matter where anyone sits on the issues, I would believe that they would listen to the record of the candidate not the "entertainer" who will sing.

Think how many entertainers have been present at shindigs for GW Bush. Did they all represent his political sway?

Has anybody else noticed that all these anti-gay wackjob fringe lunatics are always the ones who know all these "ex-gays" in their personal lives?!

I'm a middle aged man - and have NEVER met one - nor do I know anybody else who has met one.

I'm sure, however, that Rod has met ever so many.

yeah - I believe that. No - really.

OD do you even read the full posts and stories posted or do you just slam something off of your keyboard into cyber space? Go back and read the story (notice the blue letters are portions of the story) and the posted comments and the comments to the the comments and the links posted on Gary's post. If you do not understand after you read the story, the comments in the story and the posts and the links given in the posts possibly you should consider some night courses to help you with comprehensive reading.

I know one. Or rather I knew her before she was ex-gay. I haven't heard from her in years so I don't know if she is still ex-gay or not.
