I heard about this on the news this morning, and still McCain must rely on the constant mention of Ronald Reagan in any forum. Does anybody know of such an exchange between him and any other candidates where he didn't constantly try to attach himself to Reagan? I could respect him more if I could hear him once not have to do so. Tell me of your plans and proposals, McCain; and not what a former president would do. Unless you are starting a write-in campaign for Reagan.

McCain needs to attach himself to Reagan, he wants the Conservative vote and for us Conservatives, Reagan is the standard by which all others will be measured. I liked the fact that the whole thing regarded the support regarding various newspapers. The NY Times is far from conservative yet it endorsed McCain, so he had to do something to shed that stigmatism.

Conservatism, I repeat is not an ideology. It does not breed fanatics....But if you want men who seek, reasonably and prudently, to reconcile the best in wisdom of our ancestors with the change which is essential to a vigorous civil social existence, then you will do well to turn to conservative principles

I can understand your point, Sarge; but Ronald Reagan is dead. Yes, I think he was a fine President, definitely a strong one in foreign affairs; but I think McCain must still point to what he can and will do. For the record, Sarge; I think he will the Republican nomination.

If McCain gets elected in November, he would beat Reagan by two years as the oldest man elected to serve as president.
