We sure do have a lot of hicks in Ohio. Ohioans like to portray their state like a beacon of modernity. Granted we may be densely populated for a state, and we may have three large cities but they're besieged by rednecks. And even in the city there are a lot of white suburbanites thinking they're cool cowboys or something driving huge Ford pick-up trucks with a gun-rack just to take the commute downtown to work or to the grocery store. We're not called the 'cow-town' for nothing. If I go a mile east I'm in pure country but if I go five miles or so west I'm practically downtown.

There are some big African-American sectors (especially in Cleveland) but we're also home to a lot of KKK and neo-Nazis. Probably only out-rivaled in that area by Indiana.

I have little faith in Ohio. I don't know, maybe I'm exaggerating, but Obama might have a better chance in Texas than Ohio. It's interesting to see the African-American candidate do so well in the south and lose in the North/North-east. Probably the only chance Obama has against the rednecks and old people is Ohio's large student population; I believe we have the highest number of college campuses than any other state; so if young people just voted, Ohio could actually be Obama's. Oh and just forget Pennsylvania; filled with Appalachian hicks. What Democrats there are in Appalachia are probably uneducated and poor labor Democrats only smart enough to represent their self interests in unions and in politics but probably think someone like Obama is too 'uppity'.

The prospects for Clinton doing well in Texas, Ohio, and Pennsylvania are high. She'll probably win them but what will be interesting to see will be by what margins. Maybe this thing will be determined by superdelegates after all.

Aren't there any hicks in West Virginia and Texas, too?

Texas 3 Kick Rule (can also be West Virginia or Kentucky, too)

A big-city California lawyer went duck hunting in rural Texas. He shot and dropped a bird, but it fell into a farmer's field on the other side of a fence.

As the lawyer climbed over the fence, an elderly farmer drove up on his tractor and asked him what he was doing.

The litigator responded, "I shot a duck and it fell in this field, and now I'm going in to retrieve it." The old farmer replied. "This is my property, and you are not coming over here."

The indignant lawyer said, "I am one of the best trial attorneys in the U.S. and, if you don't let me get that duck, I'll sue you and take everything you own."

The old farmer smiled and said, "Apparently, you don't know how we do things in Texas. We settle small disagreements like this with the Texas Three-Kick Rule."

The lawyer asked, "What is the Texas three-Kick Rule?" The Farmer replied. "Well, first I kick you three times and then you kick me three times, and so on, back and forth, until someone gives up."

The attorney quickly thought about the proposed contest and decided that he could easily take the old codger. He agreed to abide by the local custom.

The old farmer slowly climbed down from the tractor and walked up to the city fella.

His first kick planted the toe of his heavy work boot into the lawyer's groin and dropped him to his knees.

His second kick nearly wiped the man's nose off his face.

The barrister was flat on his belly when the farmer's third kick to a kidney nearly caused him to give up.

The lawyer summoned every bit of his will and managed to get to his feet and said, "Okay, you old coot now it's my turn."

The old Texas farmer smiled and said, "Naw, I give up. You can have the duck."
Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105
